I have been wanting to get a TB for my 2006 1500 Mega and found a used one for a good price. I have a true dual flowmaster exhaust and the 87 tune for the trinity and will get a K&N intake in the future. So is an 87mm going to be ok for me? I don't plan on getting headers

87mm is fine but you won't get the power out of it that it was designed for if your not getting headers. I had the 85mm and loved it.

There is no downside to running an 87mm on a mostly stock truck, but it just will not show its true potential unless you add headers. Basically, the 85mm and 87mm perform the same on mostly stock trucks, but on a truck will full boltons and tuning, the 87mm will make about 5hp more than the 85mm.

On a truck with a Hemi that has exhaust, CAI,and a DSP tune, will you notice the added TB over stock?

On the 87 mm tb what is the butterfly opening. What is the sizing of the port from top to bottom. Thanx for any info.

We keep the stock 80mm blade on our TB's and do not remove any material at the idle and low rpm cruise positions. This is what keeps your computer happy and prevents and check engine lights.

Our 85mm starts at 83mm at the front, then opens up to 85mm just before the blade, then tapers back down to 80mm at theblade, again opens up to 85mm just behind the blade, and then back dowm to 83mm at the back of the TB.

The 87mm starts at 83mm in front, opens up to 87mm just before the blade, tapers back down to 80mm at the blade, then opens up to 85mm behind the blade, and then back down to 83mm where it meets the manifold.

The port shapes are very complicated, but they have shown great results for us for such a simple upgrade to install. Easy hp gains without having to mess with engine codes like we are seeing from the true bore 85mm and 90mm TB's.
