The converter will make you forget that you have those 3.55's under there ;)

This is true. My Dad's '98 Ram with 3.55s and a nice TC smoked my '00 Ram with 4.56s and factory TC HARD. (I also had a full exhaust, e fan and chip!)

If I didn't still need a bed liner, I'd probably jump on this. I gotta get my spray in first.

I want to thank everyone for the rush of Throttle Body orders between yesterday and this morning. We have plenty in stock, and are even working today to fill all the orders that were placed overnight.

For those of you that have been considering the tq converters, now is the time. In this summer heat, its always tough to feel performance gains from your basic engine boltons, but that is not the case with a converter...hot or cold, the converter is going to put a smile on your face every time you smash the skinny pedal. Don't miss out on this 1 time sale.

What's the stall on that converter ? And is it the one that they would have to cut apart to tell it isn't stock ?

I do a lot of towing in the 3000-3200 lb range, and an occasional tow in the 5500-5800 lb range.

Every converter is custom built for your truck based on your mods and how you use it. Towing 3-5k lbs isn't too heavy, so you would be fine up to a 2800 stall speed. Do you have any current power mods, or plan to add them in the future? Do you do any off-roading, or is it just a street truck?

No problem. You shouldn't notice any difference in recovery rpm after the shift. Most noticeable changes are going to be a much more aggressive launch, and then overall better drivability on the highway.

True, but I didn't want to induce any extra heat buildup when towing my 6000 lb camper by getting too large a stall speed.

NO power adders, and probably won't have any for a long time. Mostly a street truck that is used for towing, as I have my 2 cherokees (which cost a LOT less to buy) for offroading and DD duties. The truck is just for when I am dressed up going out, or towing the boat or camper.

The most 'off-road' it gets is towing the boat down a dirt road to the ramp and back. I mean why take a 45k+ truck off road, when I have 2 $1000 trucks that will go farther since they are smaller anyway ??? and I care far less about breaking them.

(I also have the 3.92 geared rear axle)

Is this one easily distinguished as aftermarket by looking at it ?

The edge looks stock from the outside. Doubt a service tech would catch it.

As long as we keep your stall speed under 2800, you will be good. With you being mostly stock now, I would rather set you up at a 2600 stall so that you have some room to grow as you add mods down the road. With a 2600 stall speed, we have customers that tow as much as 10,000 lbs without having any issues with heat.

What is the stock convertor stall rpm ?

Curious, as to why you say 2600 rpm to allow for future mods. Seems to me like that would require getting the convertor rebuilt as mods that like a higher stall speed are installed.

If I need to tow more than 6k, I'll get a 3500 to do it with. Not saying the 1500 won't do it, just a preference thing, or maybe I just miss my 97 3500 12v 5 spd 4WD dually.

The stock converter flashes at 2000-2100 rpms.

I recommended the 2600 because stall speed increases with tq. For instance, a 2600 stall converter on a stock truck will flash at 2600 rpms. If you put that exact same converter in a supercharged truck, it is going to flash closer to 3000 rpms because it is making so much more tq. If we set you up with a 2600 stall speed now, then as you continue to add mods, the stall speed is going to come up slightly as you continue to build tq. With full bolt-ons and a tuner, this will take that 2600 stall up to about a 2700-2800 stall speed after all the other mods are installed. This will keep you in a safe range that will show great gains on the street without sacrificing drivability or towing ability on the highway.
