For the past few weeks I've had that awful squeak you get when it's time for new brake pads. I was confused by this as I installed new drilled and slotted rotors and EBC Greenstuff 6000 brake pads last November. I haven't even driven 10,000 miles since install. Today I pulled off my passenger tire to take a look at the pads. They look like they've worn at least 75% of the pad thickness, and the inner pad wore down more than the outer pad. I would not have expected these pads to wear this quickly. Is this a known issue? Is there a pad anyone recommends over the EBC Greenstuff pads?

The 7000 series pads need to be used on the fronts as the 6000 series is too soft for the weight of the truck.

So would you say 11 months and roughly 9,000-10,000 miles on these with a stop and go driving style is expected?

if wear is uneven on pads it is not normal. it may be time to rebuild the calipers, or replace the calipers, and probably a good idea to replace all the brake fluid, too.

As stated above, that is not normal wear. It is likely time to take a look at the calipers. There is nothing wrong with the greenstuff 6000 pads on these trucks. I have been running them on my last 3 Rams, and have never had them wear unevenly or prematurely.

I wore through a set of 6000 series pads in less than a year on my '07 and swapped in the 7000 series and they lasted the life of the truck with plenty of material left until it was written off 2 years later. Nothing was changed on the brake system besides pads, the same rotors were used with both pad sets and I had the truck through a few auto cross events on the 7000 series pads.

But as stated above, if your calipers aren't releasing properly they will burn through a set of pads in a hurry. Check or have your calipers checked by a shop for proper operation.
