I have not power at the fuse panel for my AC/Heater blower (fan).

Is there a fusible link in the power path? If so, where is it located? And what is good replacement?

are you testing for power at the fuse with the key in the run position? the fusible link for the heater circuit is on the drivers side fender. it should be the orange 1 connected to the pink wire.

Yes, I am testing with the key turned on. I even double checked another slot to make sure I was testing correctly.

I appreciate your gentle reminder. I need them on occasion.

Thank you for the location. Now to warm up a bit (temp is dropping now) before I head out and start the hunt.

So, are these readily available for replacement should it be bad? If so, what power rating do I need?

i think most parts stores still carry them or can get them. according the the wiring diagrams they are suppose to be a 20 gauge fusible link. i think they are color coded by size but not 100% sure.

THANK YOU!

That is the bad / broken wire that was repaired before. The break on the Red end where all the wires split is right at the rubber molding.

The other end is pink and the dark brown that looks like the same brown in the fuse panel for the fan.

So, what is the AMP rating of this fusible link? I would rather just install the equivalent fuse.

While on that subject......why use a fusible link in the wiring harness and a fuse at the panel?

i don't know what rating you would need. all the wiring diagram says is 20 gauge.

i think the fusible links are there to prevent major overload to the cab or something like that. normal fuses blow immediately if overload where the fusible links are slower to blow if overloaded. i think you could replace them with self resetting circuit breakers or 12v circuit breakers but likely not worth the extra cost. it is not like the fusible links go bad that often.

When ever I get a used old Dodge truck the FIRST thing I do is replace all the fuse able links with fuse holders and fuses. I had a 1977 Ramcharger I did it first on that is now coming up on the change being 20 years ago and it is still working perfectly with no blown fuses or problems with the electrical involved with the change. So I did it to my 1991 Dodge four years ago, no problems anymore, and I'll do it to my new 1976 Plymouth Trail Duster I just got today when I get around to it.
