I took a quick look inside the cab yesterday and didn't see any water on any of the windows, dash or ceiling. It seemed to be running down behind the panel where that sliding door vent is on the driver's side then out onto the floor pan. I suppose I'll have to find it and fix it before I put any carpet back in.

EDIT: Maybe I'll try spraying it with the garden hose lol.

Ahhh the old vent window seals. 1AAuto has them for 74+ Ramchargers, and I'm pretty sure they're work for the trucks.

lol. i just know i have the same issue with my ramcharger. i remember the issue is so much more obvious when you take your vehicle to the car wash and rinse it off and you get back in and there is water trailing down from both windows lol. might have to take apart the latches and clean them so that they will put more pressure on things. i think that might help stop the leak. i know someone had a good DIY on how to do that but for the life of me i can't remember what forum it was on.

I've put about 100 miles on the truck so far and the cold idle is getting worse. The exhaust is smelling very rich, it's surging more and I can hear a poping noise coming out of the tail pipe along with some corresponding FLAMES the last time. The plan for now is new plugs, wires, distributor and that carb rebuild once things slow down and I can pull it into the garage.

Oh yeah, and what looks like a vacuum pump on the front of the engine is starting to make some noise. I'll have to look into that as well.

i would bet your major issue is probably with the carb but replacing the other things would not hurt.

the vacuum pump thing is a smog pump. not really needed. if you want to keep it hooked up and running i would unbolt the hose and put some oil in it. couldn't make things any worse if it is already making noise but hopefully it would help

The doors are the same on the Ramcharger, regular cab, club cab, and crew cab. So the seals for the vent windows will be the same. I am running 17 inch wheels off a 4th gen on mine. Still the same 8x6.5 bolt pattern.

Smog pump....would there be two of them? It looks like I have two almost identical pumps on the driver's side of the engine and if removing the belts is an option I'm all for that.

Do you happen to know how much offset those wheels have? I tried putting on my 3rd Gen wheels and tires but they have too much positive offset and hit the tie rod end. Maybe because its 4x4?

one is most likely the smog pump and they other is most likely the power steering pump. you could just take the belt off the smog pump but you will most likely want to keep the power steering working

I will have to measure on Monday. I think I have an 1 1/2 inch spacer. They definitely sit way in without it.

Yeah, I think you're right about the PS pump. I noticed a reservoir close by, I guess it just looks different than what I'm used to lol.

I was thinking about doing spacers. Either that or some new 17x8 zero offset rims.

Well, I found these 16 x 7 inch rims that should fit. The only thing I'm worried about is whether they have enough backspacing, won't know until I try putting them on.

Pulled it into the garage today. Planning on doing the carburetor rebuild, sealing the leaky vent window and scraping and painting the rusty floor pan. Might look at installing some new carpet but if it gets too cold I'll probably want my parking spot back.

Lol, it is pretty loud but I just turn up the radio.:roflsquared:

I really haven't driven it very much and until one of Crazzy's posts last week I hadn't realized I don't have an arm rest either.....

I honestly don't think I could hear my radio even if I had one. I need to get weather stripping and something down on the floor to kill the noise. lol

And yeah, armrests are something these trucks didn't come standard with.

They have an aluminum looking padding that is sound deading material they use on restored car/hot rods. That should help with noise, I don't use the radio so not having one wouldn't be missed...
