I have an 88 ramcharger... not a ram but close enough. The play in the steering is horrible and most of it looks to be in the steering shaft and the rest in the gear box. Im looking to replace both. Its a stock ramcharger so I dont need anything fancy for it. What are some good replacement parts and where should I order from?

Borgeson makes a good steering shaft for out trucks. I got one for my 79' power wagon and it made the steering way better. I think the rest of my slop is in the box itself.

If you just want to rebuild it, you can get a kit from rock auto. It will fix most of the slop, but it will be back eventually.

I've rebuilt it but its so wore out now that rebuilding doesn't really help. I've seen the one you are talking about for about $150 or so. Was hoping for a less expensive option but hey if that's what I got to buy then I'll get it.

I think that's the only option honestly. I've looked around, and that's the only company that makes one for a good price.
I've also heard of people getting junkyard jeep wrangler steering shafts and dabbing them to fit. You can always pick one up and see if you can make it work.

Which one do I need for my ramcharger? Its 88 318 4 wheel drive. When I search it usually brings up different steering shatfs and I'm not sure which to get.

Or what about replacing the slip joint? Mine is worn out bad and this looks to be a much cheaper option.

I think I'll just order that borgeson shaft and see how much it helps. I'd say I need a gear box too though but the ones from the local parts stores get bad reviews :/
