I'm a member of several Dodge truck forums & some list our 72-93 trucks in two categories "Vintage" 86+down carbed & "1st Gen 87+up EFI

IMO I think they should be 72-80 & 81-93

What do you think?

i like keeping 72-93 just because most of the stuff is pretty interchangeable. splitting up carbed/TBI/MPFI just makes things complicated.

I agree with Wolfie, most of the stuff is the same principle with the trucks.

Same principle yes & some parts do interchange but actually 4 different designs of trucks
72-78
79-80
81-85
87-93

I was a 72-80 lover But the 81-93 has grown on me & now I have only the 77 CrewCab & the other five & the two I have agreed to buy are all 81-92

I guess when I saw the Vintage & 1st Gen thing on those forums & saw that it really separated the trucks it kinda bummed me out

The Dodge my GrandDad bought in the early 30's would be "Vintage"

A majority of 72-80 trucks have the same stuff.

Hell, you can barely tell a 72-75 truck apart from the outside, but then you've gotten look at the dash. That sort of thing is irrelevant IMO.

79 also saw the dual headlights, which is stupid because now I cant find a replacement for my broken one.

79 setup the change to the square 81up which got body changes in 86 again (the door latch striker changed in diameter of all things) Core support & grille changes were the big things Gone was the smoothie back bumper changed to a more square one with a pad
