So, I had a not-so-funny incident driving home from work. Started to smell nasty smoke, and then a small fire started under the dash. I managed to put it out, but the fuse box/block is trashed. Big melted hole in the center. It looks like something in the box itself shorted out, causing the fire. The truck still runs (sort of) but the headlights, radio, and aftermarket stand-alone tach are all iffy.

I'm looking for a new box/block to replace the melted one, but I can't find anything that looks right. I have found aftermarket blocks, but they don't include the spots for the big relays. Anybody know where to find one?

Unfortunately, salvage yards aren't much help. Most don't have anything older than the 90's. :banghead:

unfortunately that is one thing you will only find used. you could try posting on ramchargercentral.com and see if you can find someone in your area that might have one or willing to ship one to you. if you got a facebook account you could try posting in some of the larger 1st gen ram truck groups and see if someone there can help you out. there are still tons of these things out there. i think replacing the fuse panel itself might not 100% fix your issue. i would guess other things might have got damaged from the small fire.
