sounds about right to me. they all look the same to me and use the same bushing

I thought I read were there are two sizes of bolts for the bushings, Something like 1/2" and 9/16". I should have paged marked stuff as I researched, but didn't. I maybe wrong....

i think your thinking about the lower control arm. the heavier trucks and all the vans got a bigger bolt going through the lower control arm and people would drill out there brackets on their d150 and use the heavy duty lower control arm with the spring pocket to lower their truck.

I'm sure that was it. One good thing about the UCA I bought is it is the strengthen one.

Update: I now have in hand the UCA, ball joint, bushings and knuckle. Still waiting on the special socket for the ball joint install. Looks like I'll do the work on Thursday. I'm excited to get this done. Talked to the salvage yard and he's sending me a new ashtray and a door lock cap. Strange I went to the local parts store and bought a general replacement and couldn't find one to fit. Right now I have a small piece of vacuum hose with a screw stuck in the end stuck on the lock. lol

good to here. sometime the best place to do your shopping is at the junk yard or people parting out cars. if you have a general idea what is compatible between vehicles you can usually find it pretty cheap. i know most of the mods i do to my vehicles are usually done cheap. i just have a hard time making up my mind sometimes.

I don't like throwing money away, but I was in a bit of a panic as the dealer doesn't carry this part any longer. And I'm now glad that I have the knuckle in hand. The price on it was some where around $800. I did buy a new UCA and dealership ball joint and bushings. Since I don't want anyone think I'm a total fool I won't say what I paid for them.... ouch...

ya. when your rushing to fix thing it always cost you more money. i know people that do that. i don't like it but it is not my money. i usually try to plan ahead so that i can save money. i probably got about $1000 in parts or supplies sitting around waiting for stuff to possibly break.

I'm a bit between a rock and a hard place as my Redtruck is down and I had hoped the 89 was ready to run when I bought it. It being a diesel I really don't have any experience with part sourcing and working on it. But I'm bonding with the old girl and actually having fun. I just need to spend more time on Red before the weather really gets cold.
Just a note to any members seeing this, Redtruck is in the TOTM running this month and it would be cool for everyone to go over and have a look at the really sweet trucks running.

ya that is what i figured. that is kind of why i like having 2 vehicles. that way i can use one to run around while fixing or modding the other but if you got 2 broken trucks it is bad.

I don't mind using my VTX as a parts chaser when it's warm, but I really don't like it when it's cold. lol

lol ya i don't know how some people can ride those things when it is so cold out. i got an overhead console in my ramcharger that tells me the outside temp while driving and i swear some people must be crazy or them jackets and helmets must be insulated good. some people are out as long as the roads are clear of snow.

A full helmet makes it a lot easier. All I wore was a skull cap which didn't cut it at all. I don't always do the smart thing lol. And we are suppose to get smarter as we grow older. BS, all we really do is get slower.....

Alzheimer is tough, my Dad had it and it steals your soul and robs the family of joy. A very tough time.

i guess my grandpa is lucky that it didn't really become a bigger issue until he was in his 70's.
