Hi there,
I will be working in the oil fields of Alberta starting in a few weeks. I have big plans for my truck once I get a few pay checks under my belt. One of the more major mods I want to do, is to completely redesign the top half of the truck's cab.
All 80s pickup trucks had a very upright, tall build because aerodynamics weren't being considered. I would like to angle the A pillars (the steel frame boarder between the windshield and side doors) more like newer trucks have. I want it to be just a small as it currently is, but I just want the a pillars to angle back more, rather than being at the ~45 degree angle they are at right now.
This reason for this, is because I want to try and combine "old" style with "new" style into one pickup truck. Other future mods include reshaped tail lights, headlight housings, grill, hood, etc. I will post some pics of a3D model I have mocked up soon.
Obviously I won't be doing this myself in my garage. I am wondering if anyone has attempted to "reshape" any part of their first gen dodge here. Just looking to start a bit of a discussion. Thanks

I saw one lowered, chopped, and shaved running a new hemi and it was badass.

Just thinking out loud, but giving her say a 3" chop would alter the cab look a lot. IMO, it would be very cool looking.

if your in the alberta area and looking for idea's maybe you could see about contacting Hutcla. he usually hangs out on RCC but does have an account here. he has a 91 RC with a 5.7 hemi. he might be a good person to bounce idea's off of

I am planning on lifting my truck. What's ur guys' opinion on a lifted, but slightly chopped truck? Would it looks stupid or would it look like it has some "new" styling on it?

IMO, lifting would distract from the body styling. It's hard to get a good perspective of body lines, especially roof line from looking up.

I have not seen a chopped top lifted truck in a very very long time and they were all Chevys. Moving that windshield pillar, that one part will make for major work for new glass, door work, maybe dash work.

If you can't find anyone to do this work for you send me a pm, I would be into it.

I created and modded my existing truck using a computer program. The main reason I am posting these photos is to ask your guys' opinions on the slanted back windshield and pillars. Like I said before, I am attempting to combine the classic first gen styling combined with the modern pickup truck look.
Other things I did were: designed thick fender flares, added steel trimming along the bottom with a bolt-on pattern, I also redesigned the sealed beam headlights casings to fit new custom headlights and signal lights(which I will be changing because I still don't like them). Also, I redesigned the upper half of the tail gate and added the wing-like top that the new generation Rams have. I replaced the rear bumper with a 4th gen Ram bumper. And replaced front with a rhino HD bumper. Replaced side view mirrors with 4th gen Ram mirrors.

Future mods will be: redesigned hood, with a more "raised" look, much like you see on new 2500/3500 Chevrolets and Dodges (they are very squared off and boxy) Also, will be redesigning the shape of the tail lights, will look similar to 4th gen Ram tail lights, instead of the current, perfect rectangle shape. I have already designed and made a RBP style grill with studs around the boarder, I will try and get a picture of it next time I'm home, it's sitting on my floor collecting dust. Other upcoming mods will include redesigned, Bigger rear window, side steps and possibly extending the sides of the truck a little lower down - I find that the body is quite short in height and may look good being a little taller by adding onto the bottom rather than the top.

To finish it off I lifted it 6(i think) inches and gave it fuel rims on 35s. Any other mods you see bit I didn't mention, feel free to comment about them.
Let me know what you guys think
Thanks

PS - yes I know that this project will require tons and tons of fabricating, welding, cutting, manufacturing etc etc. I realize that, but that's why I am just in the planning stages right now. Money definitely will hold me back, but this is the type of thing you save up for

Thanks everyone
