Form what I remember no. I think 16 just clear the front brakes. I believe my 85 W250 had 16.5 stock and I got a set of steelies for my 95 and they'd just fit. I also remember something different about lug nuts. Or maybe it was that the lug nuts on the 95 were bigger and held the center cap and on the 85 smaller and I couldn't use the caps?

My 85 W250 has 2nd gen 16 inch rims and they barely clear the front rotors. But they used two different sized rotors this year, you may have the smaller ones

Definitely can't use the cap from the 2nd gen. I have 2nd gen rims on mine and couldn't use the caps on front or rear
