Hey guys I'm new to the 1st Gen world, post up some pictures of how your gauges are mounted. Also how do you remove the center panel in the dash?

Do you just want a pic of the dash from the outside or do you need one of what's behind the panel cause I dont have one with the panel off.

I'm thinking of putting two or three gages in the center panel. So pictures showing gauges mounted and a little information on how to disassemble it would be great.
Thanks,

This isn't my truck since it's still stock but I found this in a search and thought it looked pretty clean. I looked for a DIY to go along with it but didn't see one.

That I don't know. It kinda looks like he just cut it out.:superhack:

This is what mine looks like. The rectangle on the left is for the 4WD indicator light, cubby hole on the right and radio underneath.

I guess I'll have to pull the front and then make the insert plate(s). I'll probably remove the radio while I'm at it. Maybe have a spare dash face to work with and then just swap.

Yes, I'm thinking tach, boost, fuel pressure, egt. I specifically want a 0-3500 3-3/4" tach. I want to put it on the steering column. I've found a couple that use a flywheel pickup, but don't know if the harmonic balancer pickup will be a good substitute or is there a mounting arrangement that can be used with the flywheel pickup.. I think our flywheel(flex plate) is 152 teeth.

ya i don't know much about that. i am use to dealing with a gasser lol. i am pretty good at making stuff work tho. i got a overhead console out of a 93 jeep Cherokee in my 93 and a OHC out out of a 93 caravan in my 81. if i can get some decent led light for the 98 caravan OHC that will be going in my 81 but having a hard time finding good leds for a weird light setup.

after enough winter driving an overhead console with some good lighting might be on that list. stock cab lights on these things suck. there is a reason they are where they are on the newer vehicles.

I don't like going out at night, the deer population is such that vehicles don't stand a chance.

sounds like you need a catcher then. as long as the deer is not too big should do pretty good against one

I had a California Highway Patrol push bars on my old 70 3/4 chevy. I wish I still had that bumper. Might have to build a replica...

anything is possible with the right amount of money. i wouldn't mind building a custom front bumper for either of my rigs but i doubt i will ever get around to it.
