does the truck have a/c? usually you can flip down the glove box and access the heater control lever on the heater box. if it is stuck then it might be a bit tough to move it with a set of small locking pliers but it will start moving pretty good eventually. if you ever clean the box out you can clean and grease all the moving parts and make it move real smoothly.

On the glove box. do I have to remove the glove box to get to the heater control?

no you don't have to. you just have to press down on the center at the back to get it to flip down far enough to get behind the glovebox. you may want to empty your glovebox first tho since there is a possibility of dumping everything on the floor.

Wow so simple it works great thanks again. I just hit it with a little WD 40d58dea8144c0d67d55d265c9abd17ed7.jpg

no problem. i don't know if wd40 is a permanent solution but a guess at least you know where to look if you have any problems in the future.

WD40 is great for getting rusty parts unstuck, but grease it up with a good automotive grease too. The WD40 will dry off and stop providing any lubricity.

the only problem is in order to grease anything you have to take the heater box out and apart which would likely suck if it is cold enough to need heat. i know i am in that boat right now trying to work on my 93. it is 16*f out but with the wind it feels like -*2f

ya i can't blame you. i even hate going outside every 30 minutes to check on my 93. siphoning fuel out of it so i can drop the fuel tank. at least in the winter you can just leave the heat on and crack the window if you find the cab too warm.
