What's this? Gets really hot and takes long time to cool. Normal? Always has done this since I first touched it.

it is a time delay relay or something like that. on the 91-93 trucks it is what usually keeps the ring around the key lit when you got the door open and for a few seconds after you close the door. as long as you got the door open it will stay hot. not sure what it does on a 90

Headlights

No key ring light here. There is an"ignition"bulb by the hazard switch. I think it used to work until I unhooked the buzzer. I first found the pictured part when trying to figure out what's up with my headlights when I turn on the high beams. All the lights go out after a few minutes and come back on when I switch back to dim or shutoff main headlight switch and pull back on only on dim. Used to, they would go out at an exact spot on my route home after about 20 miles in the same slow winded curve. After radiator the lights were the only trouble I've had with this truck in many years of driving until here recently. Thanks for the reply.

Oh yeah, craziewolfie, you advised someone to plug fuel return line in another thread. What does this accomplish? I read where someone else was having the"intermittently" engine kill and return fuel line was mentioned in addition to rotting fuel line s as a possible issue. Would a fuel problem warrant a compression test?

For my part I got all kinds of problem s. Getting a wiring diagram for it. Just seen in fuse panel how one of the ignition switch wires is linked to the ac/heater fuse. Well I know I got a good heater but absolutely no ac parts under hood except for the compressor in which case the connector is open and just dangling. So I removed the fuse. Of course it runs. But just beginning to eliminate potential problems esp since a wire from ign switch is linked in fuse to that non existent ac

Hi everyone, I am also experiencing the same issue posted by OP about that round metallic (I'm assuming it is a relay of some sort?) being too hot to touch even after the truck has been sitting (undriven) for 3 days. Is that normal? I don't want my truck to catch on fire, so I'm thinking that I may have to unhook the battery from now on if it's just sitting on the driveway.

It is just fine. You can unplug the relay if you want. I am pretty sure all it does is power the key light when you open the door and a few seconds after. That is why it is generally hot any time you check it
