Hey guys, just bought my first ram. Tried driving it home but it started to over heat. So had it towed. starts and idles fine. but after driving the oil temp rose to high and an oil light came on the dash. Coolent tank was steaming. Where do you guys think i should start? Replace radiator, hoses, flush, cluctch cooling fan, water pump, oil pump. Truck has 86,*** miles, but was sitting for the past 3 years. thanks guys. First truck, first dodge, look forward to the learning curve, came from the turbo subaru world.

Yeah im gonna try and check it out better in the daylight today. I was told the truck was 4x4 by seller. but its 2 wheel drive. I made the mistake and didnt look underneath. I was excited, and made a rookie mistake.

I was driving my 94 dodge ram 4x4 earlier down the highway at 65 and something broke felt like i was rear ended as it made my truck jump, truck will not go n e where engine runs fine. Thinking either tranni transfer case or rear end, 4 wheel drive hasnt worked for awhile. Any thoughts?

as far as the overheating goes i would recommend checking the coolant level first and make sure the reservoir filled to where it should be. if the cooling system is low on coolant it can cause it to overheat quick. i would also recommend checking oil level and possibly changing it and the filter. pretty much all the basic maintenance.

paid $1500 for it. 82k miles, and not much rust at all. inside condition was real nice as well.

both of you look like you have got pretty lucky. i would pay that any day of the week for a solid truck. i have had to deal with more rust and rust related issues on my vehicles than i would like to admit.

my 93 cost me $1000 and had quite a bit of rust and issues that slowly popped up as i drove it. it also had working a/c and Dee Zee running board. i have had it for 4 years and might be lucky if i get another year out of it with how bad some of the rust is. this is what it looked like when i got it 4 years ago
