Is there a Heavy Duty 318? My truck has 2 catalytic converters, one small one the drivers side then the main one. If there is one whats the difference?
Thanks for that link. Im a lot better with Chevy and Fords. I have some learning on Dodge for sure. Do you know of a site for VIN breakdown. I found my fendertag and when it quits raining I may go out and see if I can pull the codes.
You could be right come to think of it. There is another piece on the passenger side manifold where the y pipe starts that looks vacuum controlled. Wont have to worry about that when the headers come though.
i think the thing you see on the manifold is pretty normal for a lot of trucks. i don't know exactly what it is for but if you ever had to replace the manifold you could replace the manifold with one without it. they are the same
The HD 318 was available 68-72 the block has a 318-3 stamped on the side
Bottom end has a 340 style steel crank,windage tray & floating wrist pins like a 68-72 340
The cylinder walls in this block are thicker as it is actually the block the original 340 was built from
