The automatic choke on my 84 d150 does not work. My mechanic said he "wired it open" because it didn't work, so it would cause me less idling issues. But now I would like it to work again since winter is coming. I want to be able to start up the truck, then go back inside my house for 5 more minutes while it warms up. As it stands right now, I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep the revs up while it warms up. It's pretty time consuming. I can't seem to find an automatic choke anywhere... any ideas?
Thanks

Is it a Carter? It looks like Rockauto has both the choke pull off and electric choke thermostat.

The rockauto ones are for a 360, I have a 318. I doubt they would be interchangeable since the two motors probably rev different

These should be for a 1984 318 with a Carter 2bbl carb.

Tomco part #7298 Choke pull off
Tomco part #9031 Choke Thermostat

EDIT: Sorry, 9081 not 9031. My bad.

a choke is a choke. if anything the only difference would be the length of the rod that connects to the carb. rockauto lists them for a 84 5.2L
