Hey Guys, was hoping someone could help me track down the gremlin in my engine compartment.

working on the coolant temp sending unit. (the PITA to get to sensor behind the Alternator and AC pump)

just replaced the sensor and reconnected the single wire and still nothing. when i had the key in the on position (not running) i grounded that single wire, still nothing on the gauge (should have maxed out on the temp)

what's the best way to track it down from here?

remove the dash and ensure continuity from the single wire to the terminal behind the gauge cluster?

has anyone ever had to replace the actual gauge itself in the cluster?

just looking for a bit more help before digging into it aimlessly.

Cheers!

Make sure there isn't any thread tape on it. I would remove it and ground it against the engine block to check the gauge itself
