225 slant six
Hi i have a 1983 dodge w150. It has a slant sixe with the np435 4 speed. I bought a 360 to put in it and i got a bellhousing out of a 78 3/4 ton 2wd. I was told the bellhousing would fit i just need to grind the inside a little for the bigger flywheel. How will the starter work if the flywheel is bigger? Is the guy correct? At oreilly autozon and google the 360 flywheel is 14.5? Inch total diameter and the 318 is 13.216. If u go to napa they say the 360 is 12 1/16 and the 318 is 12 3/16. So i bought the 360 flywheel from napa because their numbers sound like it will bolt up and work. Will this work together if not wat do i need?

Might as well bolt it up while its out of the truck to make sure.

Bellhousings are all the same for small blocks, so I don't think any grinding will be necessary. Make sure you get a flywheel for the 360 because it's externally balanced, if not it'll shake apart the truck.

Quick search says that a 360 will have flywheel with 143 teeth. Check the one you got.

starter should be the same. pretty much all the older dodge trucks and cars use the same starter

Thnx for the info. i was worried bout the flywheel fitting. My friend said the 318 and 360 had tge same size flywheel the reason the diameter numbers r different he said is they r not talking about the flywheel itself they r talking the machined surface. So im not sure about th. I just really hope my stuff works i wanna get rid of tht slant six its reliable as hell but just not enough power to b used in a truck.

Grinding Involved? You need to run the casting # & see what you bought

Remember a 360 uses a 360 only flywheel also
