My brights are always on (when headlights are) I don't have any low beams, the dimmer switch isn't on the floor and pulling turn signal switch forward does nothing, is my '88 suppose to be on the floor? Looked under the dash and I found this 4f427ca891807915fc0c9762f80a55a3.png but nothing else, also I'm not sure how to use the windshield washer pump, I can't find the trigger, originally I thought pulling the blinker switch forward activated that but after not finding the dimmer switch on the floor I'm not sure and it's got me really confused, I've worked on vehicles before so this is really throwing me off

you pull the wiper switch back towards you to jump between highs and lows. to use the windshield washer pump you press the end of the wiper control stick in

But the end doesn't push in, so maybe my switch is just bad, does steering wheel have to come off to change it?

is the wiper switch on the steering column or on the dash beside the headlight switch?

does the truck also have cruise or delayed wipers?
No cruise does have delayed wipers, the end of the knob does push in just very small amount, I found the dimmer switch button but it's not connected up top anywhere I'd have to get under the dash to turn it on and off, any idea where it's supposed to mount?f17a7b21899df3a3f450aa2758c5af56.jpg

that small amount is all that it needs to activate the pump. you can test it with a test light but it would not surprise me if the washer pump possibly died.

if it the switch is just hanging there there is a possibility that parts might be missing to have it in the stock spot. it usually bolts to the steering column and there is a rod that connects to to the wiper/turn signal switch. if stuff is missing you could possibly install a floor mounted dimmer switch

I believe that rod is missing, floor dimmer switch it's only $6 so I'll do that thanks, and previous owner said the pump was so bad so I'll replace that at some point lol

Guys recently my truck has developed a surging idle when cold (it's any where from 10° to -10° in the morning) what should be the first thing I check

ya i really don't know would would cause that. if it was a bit newer i would say look at the IAC but a 88 wouldn't have that. it could just be a slow throttle control motor that just doesn't like the cold.
