The instructions are confusing as you say they mention 2 usb sticks or thumb drives. If you look at the drive name in my pic, it says red drive 1 I too thought I needed 2 drives as well. The instructions calling for 2 drives is for a European update the includes map updates and not the US one. You only need one usb stick. The token file is not a download it is attached to your email, as you said unzip it and paste it to your usb stick along with the downloaded and extracted files just like I said in the previous post.

If you plug in USB stick as stated previously and are prompted to install update 14:xx.xx you are good to go. If you did not paste the token it will give you a no token message an not allow you to install it, I know because I missed this myself. I thought the token was part of the download an did not initially see it in the email.

Just leave the key in the on position during the process, do not interrupt it and you will be jus fine.

Turboguy327, yes this will allow you to add a front cam and a cargo light cam, called the CHMSL cam. Readthru this post for more info.

So we just ignore the MEGA file then?

Was the 'token' attachment that was emailed to you identified with the RAR extension?

I have spent all evening trying to get the attachment to do something in concert with WinRAR, but all I keep getting are error messages.

I'm thinking that what Customtronix has sent me is incomplete. At least that's all I can come up with.

I've used WinRAR previously, and it was never an issue to have it work properly. In fact, it seemed to be a no-brainer, but not this time..

I am using Windows 8.1, and the most current version of WinRAR that I could find.

Here's what I sent Customtronix last night;

From:
Sent: Friday, February 13, 2015 9:01 AM(1:01MST)
To: [email protected]
Subject: FW: Re: [Customtronix] New customer order - February 6, 2015

Can you please resend the token? I am having issues with trying to get it to work with WinRAR. I have forwarded your original email, with attachment, so you can see what I am working with.

Also, am I to use the MEGA hyperlink. I thought for North America(and specifically Canada), I only had to work with the token file(therefore 1 USB stick), and that was all?

Please advise.

And this is what they sent back;

Hi,

Why should the token-file work with WinRaR??

The only software you needs the WinRaR with is the large file (archive) that you should download to your HDD and extract to a USB stick.

The token-file should just be saved into the tokens-folder on the USB stick.

Suggest you watch the instruction movies several times to pick-up all the details.

Rgds,
H. Hansson

I freely admit that I am not the most computer language oriented person, but what am I missing, or not understanding?

Mike

PS

Thanks for all your help on this, tis appreciated.

I do not believe I told you to extract the token file just copy paste it to the thumb drive and use win RAR to extract the other files to the thumb drive. I do agree with you that it is confusing if you go by the instructions on their website, where it tells you to use 2 thumb drives.

The token file is only the licensing file and the mega file is the content file. Think of a token file as a product key like you would type in when you install software you purchase for you PC. If you do not have the token file on the thumb drive when you go to install you will get a "No token found Error installation cannot continue" error.

Ahhhh, now I think that I'm starting to catch on.

Where I got thrown off is where you said to unzip the token file, so I may have misunderstood, but here's how I see this now, so bear with me;

1)format thumbdrive to FAT32

2)download the hypelink(using Chrome) titled MEGAxxxxxx to my Desktop(or wherever)

3)go to the Desktop icon that says Installation RAX, etc, and double-click it

4)this will open up the actual WinRAR utility, so then I'll highlight all the lines and use the command EXTRACT TO, then extract to the thumbdrive

5)when that's all done, I'll do a COPY/PASTE of the attachment that is on the original email, and which references my VIN, plus the 'options' that I've bought, and put it onto the thumbdrive. Do I have to drop it onto the actual line titled Token, or just drop it onto the thumbdrive itself?

Then I'll start the installation process on my truck

This has been an interesting thread. I am very close to purchasing the CET-UCONNECTAIR-V2 lockpik. I am leaning that way because the most desired function of these devices to me is the blinker cameras. The front and cargo cameras would be nice additions but not the reason for purchasing the kit. I was wondering if any of you had experience with the Coastal UconnectAir-V2. Any insight would be appreciated.

I got my AIR V.2 about two(2) months ago, and as with so many of the CET products I've tried out over the years, it's a bit flaky, so you have to go into it with your eyes wide open.

I've now purchased one of the Customtronix products to try, the main reason being the factory-like integration it affords, and that gets my attention.

I've just got to find the concentrated amount of time to get it installed.

As far as the turn signal-activated cameras are concerned, in trading emails with Magnus Hansson at Customtronix, he has indicated that they are currently developing a like package.

So we sit and wait and watch...

What I did to fix my brake light out light in the evic, is I spliced into the chmsl brake light. You can easily figure out which two of the four wires the brake light is by pressing the brakes and then hook up your multimeter and set it to beeping continuity mode. Then test the wires until you get the right ones.

Anyways I spliced into the chmsl brake light harness and hooked up a 12v light that puts more load on the brake light. Now the brake light out message is gone. Hope this helps someone down the road.

This is great stuff-good for you.

Did you put the additional light in series or in parallel in the CHMSL circuit? I'm not an electronics whiz by any means, but I'll bet that a resistor of some sort would accomplish the same result?

Where did you get the new wiring harness and camera and was it difficult to install? Did you need t remove headliner or did it fish through?

I am selling a brand new never used harness for the OEM CHMSL Camera made by Customtronix. I will be posting it tonight on the for sale forum. This will work with either the lockpick or Rax and will make the OEM LED chmsl cam PNP.

Biwanow did you ever get rid of the light out message, weird that I never got it not that I am complaining. I wonder if you are getting it because the original third brake light you had was incandescent and your other brake lights are LED, so now with the LED Chmsl your truck is not seeing any current draw on the brake light circuit. In my case I have incandescent brake lights and it is still seeing a draw on the circuit? Just a thought

ufokillerz, I posted this earlier in this thread, don't know if you've seen it. That's how I finally got rid of the brake light out message. The light cant be an led. It has to have a filament. Just wire it up, eather leave it in the headliner or hide it behind a seat or something. Tape off the light so that it doesnt disturb you at night.

Cheers.

I have had my oem led chmsl cam installed for quite some time and never got a bulb out error, that is until I upgraded my dash cluster to the 7" premium, I previously had a 3.5" evic. Weird that one displays the error message and one does not. FYI the 3.5 does display error messages and when I tried using LED bulbs in my tail light it displayed the error.

That said I am working on a PNP (no splicing or tapping wires) solution for the bulb out error caused by installing the led chmsl, I bought enough parts to fab 5 of them if anyone is looking for one.

Well you asked so here it is, total plug and play, no splicing wires. I have enough plugs and pins to make 4 more.

Here is the dreaded Brake Light out error message!

Here is the LED CHMSL with mounting screws removed as plugged in when getting Brake Light out message! No error correction harness plugged in.

Here is the finished error correction harness ready to install.

Here is the result Brake Light message gone!!! No stored messages!!!

I used a standard life bulb and it should last a good long time, as it only comes on when you hit the brakes. As installed you cannot see the light when it comes on at all which is what I wanted. If it should burn out and need replacing the dash will let me know! LOL

Where did you get the parts to make this jumper harness for the Led chmsl? What is the name of the connectors or part # also the bulb socket?
