Is it possible to put 17 inch rims and tires on my truck that came with 20 inch rims and tires?

Would also like to know what the proper offset / backspace should be on a 17" rim to fit 285/70 R17 on a stock 2500? The truck already has the factory fender flares installed. Per my state the tires must not protrude from the fenders of the vehicle.

I know the Power Wagons came with 17's but I don't know if the PW came with a smaller brake package.

Thanks

Yes you can fit 17's on your truck no problem. 17's are the smallest you can run and still clear the brake calipers.

Stock specs are 17x7 +43 offset however that's not what I'd run for your setup. A 17x9 +18 or +25 offset would be a good option with your tires and still keep them tucked under your flares.

When I purchased my 2500, it came with a brand new set of 285/70/17s on factory wheels. I had no rubbing issues or clearance issues. I am from PA, and I have to deal with the same law where my tire tread can't protrude past my fender. I also don't have the fender flares. Right now I am running 35/12.5/17s on the stock wheel and my tread is right in line with my fenders.

If you ever go with 37s, zero offset looks like this.
