I am finding a decent amount of water in the truck bed after it rains (or go thru the car wash). Now I understand that it will not be completely waterproof, however I have had beach towels in the bed of truck and after it rains they will be completely saturated. Is this normal? This cover came with the truck from the factory and is a soft tri-fold. Thanks.

I am betting with the less expensive models yes. I have always used the one piece fibreglass paint matched models and never got more than a drop or two.

Take it back to the dealer and see if it has been installed correctly. I can understand a few drops but that sounds like waaaaaay to much water. I'm like Tank, I got a hard fiberglass cover and I don't have that problem.

Is it coming in the front or rear of the bed? You'll get some past the tailgate without gaskets. If it's from the front you shouldn't get more than a tablespoon or less.

Where you find the water should give you a good idea of where it's leaking.

Lastly, is it the soft or hard OEM cover?

Agree with taking it back to the dealer if they installed it.

I have an add on tri-fold soft cover. Never gets wet inside. Even in pouring rains.

I find water in the front by the cab and in the rear by the tailgate. This is a soft tri-fold that came with the truck from the factory. I asked the dealer about it today while in for an oil change. they told me the covers are not waterproof and the new cover design doesn't allow for much adjust to make it tighter. After a few minutes of conversation they agreed to order me a new cover to see if it fixes the problem. I will not be happy if this is a design flaw....

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I should mention that I have ram boxes and this cover clips to the rail system. Curious if this is just a bad cover or design flaw.

My cover has four tie down points. Two up front that use a type of clamp that under slings the rail The rest tie downs also clip under the rails. The whole cover had a gasket between the cover and the rail. The gasket is glued to the cover.

Same anchor points here, that is good to hear. Maybe I just have a bad cover.

Hope your new cover fixes your problem. Kind of defeats the purpose of having it if your stuff gets soaked when it rains. Maybe if you call the manufacture of the cover they might have some suggestions or fixes.

i have a lopro qt, soft rollup cover. had it previously on a 1500 with a 6'4" bed with a plastic bedliner and transferred it to my new 2500 with a spray in bed liner.

never got more then a couple of drops of water in the 1500 bed, on the 2500 the bed gets a bunch of water. i know at the cab side the fit isnt as good without the plastic bedliner that went over the top of the bed. but the 2500 bed seems to be slightly longer then the 1500 bed (same part number from cover manufacturer)

let us know how your new cover works out, i may be looking for a different style cover myself.

Dodge used to use Fold A Cover for their OEM covers, much better than what they offer now. I bought their G4 Elite, a step up from the older OEM model, and it's been great so far. Unless you're hitting it with high pressure it's been basically water tight......maybe a few drops but not enough to matter. Also like the optional storage bin for the G4.

I've got the Extang Trifecta soft tri-fold on my 2016 3500 crew cab 6.5 bed. It seals very well. Only a few drops get in when I wash the truck.

I have the factory tri fold on my 2016 model and I have no such issues with water.

Thanks Boudreaux - The dealer ordered a new set of weatherstripping for the cover, should be able to get back the dealer in the next week to have it installed. I hope it fixes the issue.
