How do you drive? Stoplight racer or easy does it? 65 or 80? What do you tow?

My father has a DRW 3500 4.10 and is tickled to get 16 empty on the highway at 70-75.

Exactly what @drittal said all depends on driving habits.

Just expect to get terrible and you won't be disappointed. I'm lucky if in city I get 12, best I've seen on hwy is 24, but I average about 17 on frwy

So far around town its averaging between 16-17. Have not taken it on a road trip yet. Will know more next week how it does under a load when i hook the bbq trailer up to it and hit the highway with it.

Depending on how heavy your trailer is, I tow a 40ft 5th wheel weighs about 16-16,500 I'll get about 13-14mpg that's doing about 60-65 at most.

Wow, you are very fortunate. I'm pulling a fiver, 40 foot, about 15K, and I average 11.9 MPG at 60 MPH using cruise control. Of course, a strong headwind will knock the MPG down to around 7 to 8 MPG, a tail wind will push me up to 13 to 13 MPG.

Yeah I've seen as low as about 11-11.5 with a headwind but I just take time go slow and steady is my rule of thumb.

I also don't EVER use cruise control, I stay in control of the truck and will use tow haul as well.

BTW, how are you liking your CTD towing? Any issues on those switchbacks?

Tows well. Lock out 6th and go. Crossing my fingers as I haven't had a CEL since winter.

Give CC a try, it is nicely integrated with tow/haul and the exhaust brake. Works well on most roadways except when traveling rolling hills, it gets a little bit too aggressive holding my downhill speed. In over-policing states, like Ohio, where cities and burges make their revenue from traffic tickets, I've come to better appreciate the CC and exhaust brake integration on the rolling hills.

Your lucky. I have a 2012 3500 4c4 SRW. I pull a 40' 5th wheel tat weighs about 14.5k and I get 9-10.5 mpg at 62-65 mph.
