You make it sound like with that "high" of mileage you are almost broken in...

Not sure how the mileage compares, but you should expect full break in to occur around 35,000 miles. My dad's 11 ST 3500 CTD gets 14-16 mpg with only 11,000 miles on it.

The addition of the DPF, and other emissions crap really killed the mileage on these trucks. My old 05 3500 drw ctd used to get 20+on the highway all the time. 25 if i babied it. These new ones are not even close unfortunately.

IMO the change of body style hurt fuel mileage more then the emmisions

Check out the link I posted (to be fair we don't know what modifications have been done to those trucks) but 04-06 are getting about 15.5 mpg, 07-09 are gettin about the same if not a little better then the 5.9 CR and then the drop about a gallon and a half with the body style change on 2010-present

I bought my 2010 used with 18k miles. Bone stock I was seeing about 17mpg mixed driving. After deletes and a tuner, that jumped up to 20mpg. Then I added the lift and 35's and I am back down to 17mpg...currently have 42k miles.

It is definitely true that the 4th gens seem a lot more blocky, but they claim the 4th gen half tons have the lowest C_d of all the different models over the years. I would think they would have spent similar time modeling, and designing the HD trucks. It doesn't even seem like at low speeds these trucks get decent mileage, but they again, the one I drive the most only has like 11,000 miles on it.

before I put the bigger tires on, I averaged around 14-15 around town and 19-21 on the highway. After larger tires dropped to 12-13 around town and no highway data yet, but my computer hasn't been reprogrammed yet for the additional tire size.
