35/12.5/20 tires on Laramie wheels

I want to install Nitto G2 35/12.5/20 on my stock Laramie 2500 wheels. They are 20x8 but Nitto recommends a 8.5 minimum wheel. How many have done it with or without problems? Pics would also be appreciated, thanks!

They will be fine. I'm running a 35x12.50 on my factory 20x8s on a 1500 with no issues. As long as your not pulling crazy heavy loads or anything like that you will have no problems

I have Cooper ST/Maxx 35x12.5r20's mounted on the factory Laramie wheels. Will try to get some pictures this weekend.

285/65R20 G2's. They're actually a little taller than a 35 but 11.5 wide and rated at 80 psi.

Most shops will not mount a 35" tire on an 8" wheel any more. They are too narrow and cause the tire to crown.

I would recommend you didn't go Nitto as they are a soft tire. These trucks are heavy and will wear fast. I have a CTD, and go about 23K miles out of mine.

They are a BEAST of a tire though!!

Discount/America' Tire will not mount a 35" to an 8" wheel.

Others I know too.

I tried to get Discount to make me sign a waiver that I wouldn't warranty them. They said, we could careless about that, we're more concerned for your safety.

I've heard similar stories from other people. However, people have been doing this for years..

again the sizing of rims/tires are done for obvious reasons, otherwise they would mount 345's on the front of my 15 R/T and 385's in the back. This of coarse is with my stockers. If shops will not do it there must be a valid reason yes.

Sure, but we are talking about 1/2" over recommended. Not 2+ inches. Not saying it's optimal, and if you were towing 10k+ regularly would not do it. But for everyday use it hasn't affected anything at all on my truck.

Have a different set of summer rims 8 1/2" (minimum approved for a 35x12.5" wide) and I honestly can't tell any difference in feel between the two.

Thanks all, the reason for going with 35x12.5 instead of 295/65 is because I'm eventually buying new wheels and transferring the tires to them. The new wheels will be 20x9.
