Is there such a thing? Everything I have been looking at seems to be a M/T, but I don't want all the highway buzz and short lifespan of a true M/T.

Nitto Ridge Grapplers. We have 37x12.50x17s on the dodge at work. Pretty close to an A/T and so far very quiet.

Kevin

Sorry I missread what you wrote. I'm not sure if they make that in a 38.

Just put on a set of Ridge Grapplers on yesterday after putting a little over 40k miles on my Trail Grappler M/T's. All I can say is "Wow!". I cannot believe how quiet these tires are in comparison and for such an aggressive A/T tread.

Falken makes a 38" tire, believe its an MT but their MT is mild and has great reviews.

I had Pro Comp A/T 37's on my older Ram. Looked aggressive but did well with road noise.

Go with Nitto Trail Grapplers, they're an M/T and quiet! I got 55K out the set I had and performance is top notch.

Yeah, if you are unhappy with the noise level of your Trail Grapplers you need to go with an all terrain or one of the new "hybrid" MT/AT tires like the Nitto Ridge grappler or Toyo RT. We have a set of Toyo MT's and a set of Trail Grapplers and they are virtually identical in highway performance. They are by far the quietest MT's I've even seen.

BTW, for those that use your truck other than a pavement queen and want to know how the Ridge Grappler handles the mud compared to the Trail Grappler. I will be towing our pit to an annual cook-off next weekend and it looks like it will be raining the day I tow it in. They usually have all the teams set up in a field at this cook-off. Last year it was raining and the passages in and out of the field were muddy AF, and required a good tire to get you through. Those with street tires were getting stuck left and right. If it rains again this year I will post a follow up of the comparison.

Ooops, almost forgot about this post. No substantial rain. It rained for a very short time Saturday morning, but the rest of the time the sky was as clear as what you see in the photo below.

Our team name is called the Hangover's BBQ Team if you can't see the shirt well, and believe me, we live up to it. The Hangovers.jpg

So more like an intolerance to alcohol? Must be a Texas thing, like TexMex or something.

Back to the topic. I would also suggest looking at the Nitto Terra Grappler and Toyo AT in the 355/60-20 size. It works out to be basically a 37x14.00 tire. Not a 38 inch tall tire but it's tall for a "37". I had a set that I ran for 30k miles with no issues and excellent treadwear. I only switched because my son wanted and bought 22 inch wheels.
