So in another thread about transmissions I mentioned my temperature that my transmission gets up to, to other gentlemen that drive half tons (65RFE) and They thought it was very high.

On a hot summer day (70's +) it hovers around 17O-175 degrees when iv been on the highway for a good 15 min and stays there.

In town its about the same.

In 50-60 degree weather on the highway its around 130 150.

In 30 degree in town durring a 15 min drive (city) its around 110-120 at most

Any colder than that and it barely brakes 100 (15 min drive in town) and a lot of times its under that.

Thanks for your post in advanced

That's nothing, mine is typically high 160's low 170's all the time with normal driving. So far I've never had any of the countless computers, sensors or alarms tell me anything is wrong.

168-172 is standard for me driving in weather from 40-90*. If I idle over some hot concrete it'll creep to 175-180*. I have never seen it below 160* once fully warmed up. This is the main reason for getting added capacity tranny and rear diff covers.

Mine is 170°F +/-5 empty. Towing, it will get up to 180°F +/-5.

180°F is normal operating temp according to this ATSG article.

"Drive vehicle if necessary to
bring fluid temperature up to normal operating
temperature of 82°C (180°F).

Mine is almost always at 170-172 after it warms up. When I tow it is usually between 170-180, but I haven't towed over 7,000lbs with it yet.

Mine is always 170-172, empty. I've never seen it above 180.
