I know theviking I miss y'all! I've always been fascinated with diesel though. And the aftermarket support is awesome! :)

I had a Chevy Equinox with their first DI 2.4L . It had a problem with the solenoids for the VVT. It sounded very similar to this for the first few seconds of a cold start.

This sounds more like what I'm experinceing with mine. I'm keeping a close watch on it to see how/if it develops into anything more.

Is this because so many are ordering the 6.4 these days? They give any reason? Sure seems like an engine would be readily available, especially for warranty purpose.

The 6.4 is almost always on backorder, they would rather sell the engines in new trucks and make us poor soles that need warranty work wait

What was the problem that it needed a new engine?

It may have something to do with how they just made the 6.4 the standard engine option in at least the Laramie and up. I’m not sure if it is still an option or standard in the SLT and Tradesman. They could be running low on availability and have to allocate more motors to new orders. Through I also heard the 2500 sales have been slow the last couple months and I believe it since my Laramie has already been built and is in shipping phase after less than 3 weeks. Who knows.

All of them or was it limited to a few? When mine made that noise, it was noticeable on the passenger side but not driver side.
