Anybody put a Vararam Air Grabber or a ported throttle body on yet? I know there is still some confusion if we'll be able to get a catch can in there.

I haven't seen any listing for the 6.4 HEMI yet. There is a k&n air intake for it but that's it.

Where did you find the K&N? I've been checking their website for the last month and they claim there is nothing out for the 6.4L yet? Would love to at least get a drop in filter, not sure about the cold air intake but I might consider it.

I'm waiting on my income tax to come in. I'm gonna get it and maybe an AEM ram air hood. They also have the Diablo programmers there too. But without an exhaust, a programer won't do ya much good.

For drop in air filters I have heard that the 6.4 and 5.7 Ram elements are the same. I have not verified that by comparing the OEM Mopar part numbers.

I did cross reference the Mopar oil filter with WIX.

I used Mopar # 4892339AA
WIX- 57060 or 57060XP (designed for synthetic oil)

Thanks Olli, and your absolutely right. The K&N 33-2247 drop in should fit the 6.4, I never thought to try and cross reference with the stock Mopar filter number.

Not sure whether to invest in the cold air intake or just go with the drop in. I'd like a little better performance, power, and sound.

I'm new here..... On Saturday, I traded in my 2003 Ram 2500 quad cab long bed Laramie (5.7 L) in for a new 2014 2500 crew cab long bed laramie with the 6.4. I love it.

Congrats on the new truck!!
How would you compare the 5.7 vs the 6.4? Can you notice a difference with the new vs the old chassis?

I live near Pittsburgh.... As soon as I got on the turnpike, I cleared the MPG on the 5.7 and got 11.7 on the way to the dealership in Lancaster (about a 3.5 hour drive). On the way back, I did the exact same thing with the 6.4 and got 12.8 over the exact same distance. Typically, the mileage coming back would be worse as you are climbing hills instead of going down. So I was a little impressed with that.

The '03 was a rough rider. You could feel every little bump in the road. It has been that way since I purchased it new. This new Chassis has a much smoother ride. My wife complimented on how well it rode down the street.

You can definitely feel the difference in power between the '03 5.7 and the '14 6.4. The trottle response is a little crisper, also.

Sounds great.

Interesting how you describe the throttle response, as the word "crisp" is exactly the word that I used after my test drive. I really have to wonder if RAM has the PCM tuned to give us that feel via throttle input. (Torque Management) I really liked the way it felt.

Again, congratulations!

What would the difference between this and the Air Grabber? New to this kinda stuff so that's why I'm asking questions.

Thanks, Olli....

I just hope it lasts as long as my '03. I'm not one to get a new vehicle every couple of years. Heck, I still own my 1997 Pontiac Firebird Formula (5.7 LT1) that I bought new.

The one beef I had with the '03 was the ball joints. I replaced them numerous times over the 10 year span that I owned the truck. I heard that it was a common issue once Dodge went with the AAM axles. Replacing them for the first time was a real chore since the unitized wheel bearings were rusted in place. I think as soon as the weather breaks, I am going to tear the front end of this new one apart and antiseize the crap out of everything for easier maintenance down the road. I also had to replace the u-joints in the front axle about 3 times as well. It only had 120,000 miles on it when I traded it in.

The Air Grabber is essentially a "cold air intake". Like the K&N and others, it replaces the factory air box and exposes the air filter rather than sealing it in a box. Supposedly better airflow, the exposed filter makes me a little nervous but it's a standard part in the performance upgrade process.

Just joined this forum. Got out of an 04 Chevy 2500HD/Duramax Diesel, and got into this truck this past weekend...

Love it so far... haven't even cracked 400 miles on the Odometer yet though. Hope I enjoy it for a long, long time. Lookin forward to being a part of this forum as well.
