Per Allpar FCA insiders....

5.7L HEMI isn't going anywhere for the next few years... the only vehicle that won't be continuing the 5.7L HEMI is the Ram Heavy Duty models... the 6.4L HEMI will be come the standard engine for 2018.

Guess it makes sense since the 6.4 is a purpose-built HD engine. Now hopefully FCA will give it a HP bump and an 8 speed in the next gen. Then we'd have a winner:)

Yeah that makes sense they'd drop the 5.7L from the HD trucks. I never understood why they had that engine in the 2500 anyway.

And as kry226 says, they'll get their $500...

I never understood the 5.7L being placed in anything but the 1500

Now if they could make towing mirrors standard for all heavy duty trucks, (maybe half tons too):naughty:

Oh, something tells me they'll still get your $500 for the 6.4. :love51:

Good point. No winning.

Although I just went on Ram Trucks and if you build a 2017 2500 the 6.4 is a no cost option now... but I dont know if they jacked up the base MSRP.

Agree the tow mirrors should be standard on the HDs. They arent even tow mirrors until you flip them up anyways, so its not like you have a big ass mirror constantly sticking up.

Hurry up & order before they throw the Trump Tax on em'. If that passes they are going to have to move back to the states or nobody is going to be able to afford a GM or Ram.
