Mine has one as well. The plug will be ******* behind the bumper near where the tow hook is/would be on the passenger side.

I'd take pics but truck is in the body shop.

I'd be curious where the heating element is on the engine block if it isn't too much trouble.

I saw that diagram which show the heater element on the driver's side rear.

And what confuses me is that people are saying the extension cord comes out near the oil filter which is on the passenger side front on the 6.4L.

Picture could be wrong, it was what shown on the mopar parts sight for a 2015 RAM 2500 6.4.

Regardless, I looked both side of my engine front to back with a inspection mirror and there was no heater installed at least on my RAM>

FROM THE PIC IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE JUST BEHIND THE HEAD COVER AREA. NOT AN EASY SPOT TO INSPECT. ILL LOOK TONIGHT AFTER I HELP SOMEONE MOVE. :puke:

I can confirm 100% that the cord is on the passenger side near the tow hook and the cord runs along the frame rail on the passenger side.
Need to go under the truck to see where it goes near the rear of the engine as from the top view it disappears.

Anyone know how to take a block heater off? My brother had my truck in Alaska but has since moved back to Georgia, and now it's my truck now.

Not to be an ass.... But unless you are selling it, and its not worth much, why in the world why you want to take it off?

Why in the world not? I don't need it, nor have I used it in the last 6 years that its been here. It's just an ugly power cord hanging in the engine bay. If, its easy enough to do might as well.

so I talked to the dealer a week ago about having them installing a block heater( when I was in for a free oil change). they said they would check if the truck has the element installed and then I would just have to buy the cord. they came back saying my truck does not have the element in it, they can not get the heater for me and will not instal one for me. their excuse was it is only for canadian trucks and since im not in Canada they are not allowed to do it. I call BS. I argued a little and they ended on saying I need to get it done somewhere else.

so what is involved with removing a freeze plug and installing the block heater? does the freeze plug just unscrew and get replaces with the element?

The block heater does not go into the water jacket. There is a dry type well it sits in. just above the starter. Yes you can add one they are full of it

so is there just a plug in this dry well that unscrews and then the element screws in?

No plug to take out. Buy the heater from mopar, comes with instructions, super easy. Only time they suck is when the trucks get some miles on them, hole gets full of rust have to use round wire brush to clean out hole so heater will slide in, you should be ok with your 16

I just looked up the parts, for some reason they don't list it as an add on accessory. I looked up the parts separately I don't know why you couldn't do it this way, but it wont come with instructions. Heater,68225550AA Cord, 68219818AA Bolt to hold it in block, 6501373. Ouch prices are crazy List price Heater $95, Cord $102, Bolt $4.75. I looked up the parts using my trucks VIN (it came with factory block heater) should be the same for yours. I will be on vacation but will do some more checking when I get back.
I want to figure this out for my customers too. Makes no sense it doesn't come as an add on mopar accessory. Im thinking an older 5.7 kit would work, maybe the cord is shorter?

Will these part #s work on a 2018?
