Wow, what a beauty! Very cool!

I'm getting 6.4 envy! :uhoh2:

I better go stare at my own truck for a while to recover.

Keep an eye on that oil filter/sender block attachment for him. Just to make sure we don't have anyone else's new truck experience soiled with a leaker.

Wooot! Another 2500 Gasser in the house! :pepper:

Oh it wasn't a leaker, it was a complete, catastrophic blowout!! All good, it's fixed now. However, I guess I would encourage everyone to crawl under and take a hard look at it before you pull a load.

Trying to remind myself I don't need the 2500 ratings and would be fine with a 1500 but that 6.4 in an Outdoorsman really pulls at me sometimes. Just not sure I need that gas bill on a 90 mile daily commute, but pressing the loud pedal a couple times a day and I might not care.

Is this just a HD 6.4 problem or can this be on a 1500 5.7 as well?

I had my '09 1500 for 5 years with never a leak one. The 6.4 incorporates an oil cooler where the filter housing mounts, this is not the same as on the 1500.

So IMO, this would only be a 6.4 issue.

Correct. The 5.7 is fine. The only annoyance being it comes from the factory with a tiny oil filter that most don't have a replacement part or number for. Just spin on a new "Normal" sized filter and you are good.

There have been a couple new 6.4's to turn up with either a small leak or that completely blowout at the oil filter / cooler / block assembly.
