I've always used the Mopar ones. I've done a ton of these changes on these filters. These look identical to the factor OEM ones. Half the price is nice..

I don't know.. I am an OEM guy - but I may have a buddy or two that may try this next time around.

I would ask them what the micron and efficiency rating is for those filters. I know the primary chassis fuel filter that Racor makes for Mopar, Fleetguard, and Baldwin is a cellulose/synthetic media filter with a 3 micron at 98% efficiency. The upgraded cellulose/synthetic media version of the secondary engine filter has a 3 micron at 99% efficiency and gets the fuel 64x cleaner than the old regular pre-2012 filter did. At that price, I would think those are just cellulose media filters which has a much lower efficiency rating.

BTW, the way the ratings work is that a 3 micron filter at 98% efficiency means that it stops 98% of all contaminants that are 3 micron in size.

The Fleetguard FS53000, Baldwin BF46031, and Mopar 68197867AA are all made by Racor (PFF54529).

Fleetguard(aka Cummins Filtration) makes both the secondary and oil filters for Mopar. Fleetguard has two versions of these filters, a regular cellulose media and a cellulose/synthetic filter media. To my knowledge, the oil filter Mopar sells is the regular cellulose version of the Fleetguard and if you want the upgraded cellulose/synthetic media version then you have to buy the Flettguard LF16035.

Be careful when buying the Mopar secondary engine filter as well. If it is part number 68065608AA then it is the Fleetguard old regular cellulose only FS43255 filter and if it is a 68157291AA then it is the upgraded Fleetguard cellulose/synthetic Nanonet FS53000 filter.

Same place I get mine. They have actually come down in the past year. Used to be around 90 bucks for the set.

And as far as OP's original post.... I don't really feel like gambling my engine to save 30 bucks. I'll stick with Mopar.

Why stick with Mopar when you can get the same or better filter cheaper from the people that make them for Mopar?

Which secondary filter do you get at Athens? The 68065608AA or the 68157291AA?
