Towed this 32 ft enclosed for a friend last weekend that was just a little over 11,000 lbs(GVWR is 12,000 lbs) about 75 miles. Most of the trip was on the highway at 60 mph due to instability(I hate bumper pulls). The last 15 miles was a roller coaster ride up and down the hills of the Texas hill country where some grades were over 10%. I took out 6th gear the whole way and got 11 mph according to EVIC. Don't know the exact hand calculated figure since I only burned through a quarter tank of fuel towing it, and have not needed to fill up yet.

Towing this thing, about 13,000-14,000 lbs, I get 9-10 mpg towing taking it to and from the coast each year. It is about a 160 mile trip that is mostly flat highway cruising at 65-70 mph depending on the speed limits with five towns that I have to go through that is stop and go driving for a few miles. If I am fighting the wind then I might get about 8 mpg.

Pippin... are your recent posts foreshadowing something? Is there something you would like to share with the class?

I can neither confirm nor deny the possibility that I may or may not be researching a possible bidness investment.

I averaged about 10.4 mpg pulling this 28' enclosed car trailer up through the mountains of BC. All loaded up we figure it was around 10,000 lbs. However my truck's fully deleted running custom tunes, 8" lift, 37" Toyo's, 4.56 gears. Probably not comparable to your truck...

My 2015 pickup with a full tank and me in it weighs 8,600 lbs. With 350 lbs of passengers and about 3,000 lbs of trailer...........

70 mph rolling interstate - about 11 mpg

55 mph rolling 2 lane with some stop and go - about 12 mpg

Same weight of passengers pulling 8,000 lbs of trailer, strong head wind, wet road, 70 mph - 8.5 mpg

My only real experience towing heavy with this my 2015 is through some nasty rolling hills. literally up and down for most of an hour. Locked the truck into 5th gear and rolled right along, only time the truck down shifted was going down hill to slow itself down...

went this route a few times. To the camp site and back is roughly 2.5 hours. The truck averaged 9-11 mpg, hand calculated. First trip the truck had roughly only 500 miles on it and it still is under 3,000 so far from broke in yet for it's mileage. I expect to see it go up some.
