Intake pipe - 6.4L

I am trying to get smooth flowing air through intake and don't want to spend crazy amount of money for kit. I already have a K&N in the stock box, not want to replace tubing. Have a couple of questions. What is the pipe coming out of the intake tube for:



could I not use that and put something like this on the end of the hose coming off the engine side???

I thought the 6.4L's PCV was internal ?

it is but it uses vacuum to remove fumes from the crankcase so in turn the crankcase has to be vented so it doesn't suck the seals in

So what I am getting in all of this, is yes I could use the small breather filter???
