I see a lot of mpg posting of 15-17 mpg with the 2500 4x4. So, I'm wondering if most of those posts are with stock tires.

I know I'm hovering at 11.5 mpg (evic) with 295/65r20s - so pretty much a 35" tire and a 3/1 lift. I get up to 12.5 mpg (again evic) when on long hwy trips.

What's your gas mileage like with 35s?

My 15.3 I got on a trip is 100% stock truck. I'm looking at getting tires so I'd like to know mpg with 35s too.
I get 12-12.5 mostly city.

I have a 2.5" level and am running 35's. I average just over 15mpg hand calculated, highway driving, not interstates, I mean highway, 2 lane 55mph posted and I am usually traveling at least 65. I am running a 91 octane custom tune from charged392 and that has a lot to do with it.

With larger tires you have to adjust the odometer to get an accurate MPG reading.

Some tuners do that.

With stock suspension with the 275/70/18's I was getting 14MPG hand calculated and 15.2 on the dash to and from work. This is about 33 miles round trip with mixed driving. I am running stock suspension with 295/60/20 Nitto G2's (33.9") now and it hasn't changed and I haven't adjusted for tire size yet. That is coming soon. I know it's not 35's but I thought it might help.

You got a truck..

WHO CARES! :)

I'm getting 17 with a 6.7L - mostly highway.

IF your gas mileage has gone south - Check your plugs and stick with stock Champion.

I'm stock with Mega Cab, 6.4, 4x4, 4:10 and 275/75/18. This is not uncommon for me to get on longer road trips. This pics was of me driving from SoCal to Missoula , MT in one day. You can see it was 1206 miles and finished up at 18.2 mpg - evic. Had about 1200# of people and gear in the cab and bed under a tonneau.

CrewCab, 6.4, 4x4, 3:90something. Got 22 on the dash on last run to Atlanta and back, about 500 miles RT. Love my Ram.

I know, I upgraded from a 1500 to the 2500. I expected mileage to go down with the bigger tires and lift, but surprised at how much. Since I did the lift & wheels immediately, I had no basis for comparison. That's why I posted the question here. Just to see what most others are getting. I noticed the MDS hardly every kicks in unless I'm coasting. I feather the pedal and I can get it up to 12.8 mpg. But driving normally, I average between 11.2 - 11.5 mpg.

My cousin is getting 11 on his chevy 2500 work truck.

1) he drives it hard - it's a work truck and he doesn't pay the gas
2) he has over 600#s of tools and ladders on his truck
3) he has a metal camper shell

He has stock suspension and tires, but with all the extra weight he carries, I didn't think his mpg would be so close to mine unloaded.

My speedometer and odometer are dead on accurate. With the tune, I picked up more than 1mpg and the power and drivability are outstanding. I also have the stupid MDS turned off.

A leveled 4x4 with 35 inch aggressive tires getting better mileage than just about everyone else does with stock tires and stock ride height? :wtf:

Just check my Fuelly. In the middle of October is when I went from the stock 33's to 35's. I lost about 1mpg if I had to guess. Almost every tank is 12.6 to 13.

CCLB 3.73s 4x4 running a 2.5" level with 305/55R20s dash says I average 11.3mpgs city down from about 11.8 when stock. When driving highway I can average 15-17

I find that tire pressure directly correlates to mpg even moreso with bigger tires. 35x12.5x20 stock suspension. I get 11/14 @ 50-ish psi and 14/17 @ 65 psi (max for tires). The ride will rattle your teeth out @ 65 so I end up running 55-ish all around when not towing and avg 13/16 or so.

2016 2500 with 2" Thuren springs and 2" rods in back for OEM air lift. 35x12.5x18 Toyo's running 45psi all around. Mixed around town, 11-11.5, and got about 16 on trip to OBX from Maryland over Memorial Day week. Did not need to adjust speedo for some reason, tested by setting cruise at 70, ran waze on phone was reading 71..

All mpg's hand calculated, although EVIC is only about .5 - .7 off..

So it's been almost a year since I started this thread. I see others have found it so I'll give a little update:

Originally I was averaging around 11.0 - 11.5 mpg on the evic. After a few thousand miles my truck started to break in a bit and the mileage started to go up. NOT a lot, but it went up. The evic now reads 12.4 - 12.8 on average 90% city. When I travel across town on the hwy, it'll hit 13.0 mpg or if I'm coasting a lot. On longer hwy trips evic will hit about 15-16 mpg. Hwy mileage isn't great but I thinks it's because I usually use the loop to get around town. Every mile or so we have an overpass and that's when the gas dips a bit.

All in all, I can't complain about the mileage. Could it be better? I wish it was. Is it horrible? No. My 84 K5 blazer got about 8-10 mpg with 35s.

To be fair, rolling 20" wheels, 295/65s, heavy steel front & rear bumpers, along with a 3" lift and 90% city driving, 12.4 - 12.8 mpg doesn't sound that bad.

2017 Power Wagon stock 33's 4.10 ratio: around town Houston traffic 9-11 mpg. Highway 13ish. Just got back from a week long trip to Colorado averaged 13ish for that haul. Might have been a tad better if i did not go 75-80 but RPM range from 70-75 is negligible so might as well hit the pedal.

I never expect to see better than 14 unless i start going 65 on the highway. Again its what i expected and it hauls way more gear and doesnt even know my skiff is back there in comparison to the wrangler i came from.

Numbers are hand calculated.
