Picked up my 2500 last week. I ordered the truck and it took a couple months to get here. My Old truck was a 2003 Duramax. I attached the build sheet. I use the truck for work and personal use so I built it accordingly.

My initial thoughts are that it shifts alot more than my Duramax. Won't get into too much Gas vs Diesel comparisons though. It's snappy truck. Definitely glad I got 4:10's. I wish that when I put it in 6th or 5th gear it wouldn't downshift. The truck has really good low end power and it wants to pull hard from 1500rpm but the tranny won't let it. Anyone have any thoughts on that let me know.

The bed sides are really high. glad I got the larger tires but you are pretty much forced to go in through the tailgate for tools. I put a gang-box in it instead of a conventional diamond plate box because going over the sides is not practical unless you stand on the tire or running board. It looks good though.

The limited slip works great. Been on lot of steep loose gravel and never any spin. In fact I can't get the truck to do a burnout on pavement. Maybe operator error, not sure.

The interior is really nice for a Tradesmen. I don't get why I have buttons on the steering wheel yet they don't control the volume but I guess that costs more. There is very little underseat storage - front or rear. The chevy was definitely better for that.

I got 12.5 mpg on the first tank. Only one fill so far. I'm running 87 octane now, truck doesn't seem to care.

I do have a turbo-like whine under throttle that is noticeable at interstate speeds. Coming from the tank. Sending unit maybe?

Getting my plow settup from the old truck put on next week. Putting a DeeZee black rack and strobes on tomorrow. Overall I really like the truck. I wouldn't say the Duramax was any faster. Even with the chip. Whole different kind of power delivery though.

I'm in a 6.4 Hemi and came from an 06 Duramax so I know a lot of what you're talking about. This truck is outstanding overall. I miss the low end torque of the diesel but for a gasser this truck tows like a beast.

As for the volume thing.... do you not have the buttons on the back of the steering wheel? I looked at a Tradesman before buying my Outdoorsman and thought it had those but could be remembering wrong.

VT6.4,

you will spend your money how you see fit, but I think most members will suggest 89 Octane. These trucks are much happier on mid grade fuel.

they say the 6.4 doesn't need anything higher than 87- that's all i have ran../ and it seems to feel like it is happy.

Also if you can keep you're foot out of it, you will be impressed with the mileage, and on another note.. 2008-2012 5.7 hemi " drop in replacement" air filters fit perfectly, waiting till pay day to go order mine, you wont find anything 6.4 specific, but the 5.7 is the same size.

Yep 87 is the go to, they say anything higher is just a waste.

The full length running boards help a lot with accessing the bed. One foot there, then step on the tire and you are up. I also had an 06 Duramax. I'm happy without the diesel smell.

Gorgeous rig. Wish I had been looking at trucks in'14 instead of '12.
As for the burnout, the electronic nannies are at fault, not the operator.
