I have been wanting the SRT hood for my Hemi HD but I have a feeling the 1500 hood is shaped differently around the top of the grille.

Can anyone confirm or deny before I drop 400 bucks on a hood that wont fit?

the HD and 1/2 ton hoods are different. but it will "fit" if you change out the grill and a few other tid bits. Not sure if the extra room on the HD hood is for motor height as well or just needed more grill surface for cooling.

There are some nice aftermarket hoods... I would opt for one of those before I tried a 1/2 tom hood.

like the AEV hood? plus it's functional.

There is a Fiberglass composite one I saw that has a functioning hood scoop...

I thought they were the same shape around the hood. Just the stamping on top was different. Usually auto makers don't make that big of changes so they can use the same parts for several different models. I guess the best thing to know for sure is go to a car lot & measure a half ton.

The half ton hood is made of aluminum and available in standard and sport versions (with fake vents) it is less tall towards the front.

The HD hood is steel with three "shark gill" indents on each side.
