Single FM 50 HD replaced the original with short straight pipe in front with no resonator turned down right behind the axle.

I have a Magnaflow Cat Back. 19200. Many people also go with the Mufflex which is also a Magnaflow muffler.

I have the 3" flowmaster "dual" cat-back exhaust. 50 series muffler. Has a good idle and rumble during drive without being too obnoxious. Sounds good at higher RPM. The drone during cruise is pretty minor. I still liked the sound of my '04 5.7L 1500 better. I did true duals on that one with an x-pipe. The mufflers were 2.5" Dynomax Race bullet style. A lot more highway drone though.

Just chop the old muffler off and put a magnaglow or something straight through with minimal restrictions. Flows sound good but they don't necessarily flow well.
That being said, I have a single in dual out 40 series on the mega dumped at the axle cus I had it laying in the shop.
No need to spend a bunch of money on the exhaust unless you're going headers. The factory tubing is plenty big enough to breathe on the 6.4.

I went Magnaflow but I think that it's subjective.

I added a Flowmaster Super 40 and deleted the resonator. The exhaust dumps right behind the rear axle. Sounds mean but does have a moderate drone but hey, its a v8 truck.

I did the Flowmaster 50HD duel in & duel out. Sounds really good at idle & part throttle. It is a little too raspy for my liking when you get into it. I have had flowmaster 50 series on other trucks & it sounded great so I think it might have something to do with the duel in/out. I was just trying to save some money with one muffler & someone told me this set up would also act as an X-pipe.

This is the setup I'm considering also. It looks like it replaces the stock resonator with a MF res--do you have much drone?

Yes, it does replace the stock resonator with one hidden on the other side of the axle. While it does use their biggest muffler it's still much more aggressive then stock. I also have full length headers so mine's louder then most. IMO, if you like the typical Magnaflow sound, it's a nice option. I get a lot of compliments.

There is some drone . I don't use the regular drive with the Eco mode. In that you will have considerate drone when going into Eco. I use the Manual mode shifting into 6th gear. Much better sound and minimal drone to me. I purchased mine through Hot Exhaust.com. Best pricing that I found with their discount code.

Here's a clip from flowmasters site, for a replacement 3.5" pipe dia., muffler that fits 6.4 listed to 2015, but I don't see any reason it would not fit my 2017. Was pondering mufflex/magnaflow, but considering adding a little pipe and the flowmaster 853548
Super 40 Muffler 409S - 3.50 Offset In / 3.50 Offset Out - Aggressive Sound. Looks like they kept the resonator on.any thought's?

Do you guys notice any seat of the pants change in acceleration? just curious, I figure it's mostly a sound improvement and count you'll ever feel any gains unless you went with a full exhaust, headers etc..

it's a 7,000 lb vehicle and you're talking single digit horsepower gains, if that. there's not going to be any noticeable gains, this is all about sound and marginal fuel economy.

Thanks IRSmart, thats what i figured..it would need to compliment other improvements for there to be a noticeable gain, but boy the sound sure is nice...Im still on the fence about my gears .. I still want gears but then the guys in my thread about towing pretty much dashed my hope..L
