could you highlight the adjustor, please? is it that stick thing connecting with a plastic part next to where the main bulb goes in?

Also, the set of heads I snagged from LKQ have hazing/yellowing. I'm gonna restore them with ChrisFix's method of wetsanding and clearcoat. It's supposed to be a permanent restore.

A.) Do you think it'll work? and B.) Should I do that before or after I take it apart to do the internals? or C.) Should I just contact the retroshop and ask if they can do me all the stuff I want that isn't on their selections?

Also, if C, should I restore the lenses before or after sending the heads off for the retrofit?

Nope most rams didnt come with side to side, when you have the typical MH1 projector installed, you wont need any left or right adjustments

Me personally I wouldn’t try restoring them unless you absolutely don’t want to spend the money. I paid $125 for this set. The adjuster is the big long screw on the side of the headlight. I’m in no way trying to take business away from retro shop, but I think doing your own headlights is pretty easy, and extremely rewarding. It’s a fun project.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure, I haven’t handled the new ones until now and didn’t know if it was just a cheap set skimping on some parts or not.

2003 Ram build thread

So I finally installed the deezee tailgate assist. It seems awesome, except for one thing. Since I have a 4th gen tailgate, it’s about 1/4” narrower the. The 3rd gen gate. So the piston wants to push out the tailgate support strap. It’s annoying but I can just push the strap inside where it will catch the lip of the gate and stay put. Oh well

Just the harness. I “think” you can change the spring by dropping the transmission pan. I forgot to do that when I changed fluid last.

And they're already blacked inside.... I paid about 26 a piece for my lkq picks. So nearly 1/3 what you did? Should I take them back, or are deals like the one you got rare? I want 06's by the way. I wanna turn the bottom reflector into a switchback DRL.

No it wasn’t a special deal, new lights are fairly cheap on eBay. Like I said, I’d rather pay alittle more so the lenses are clear. It would suck to pay that much money for awesome projector lights just for them to start yellowing again. Idk how long a restore will last

ChrisFix says the wetsand+clearcoat is permanent. He has since posted two annual update clips of his own restored headlights.

Convenience is a thing, though. Not only would I not have to restore them, but the insides are already backed out as desired.

The question is, though. Will they have fitment issues like eBay/internet fenders, doors, mirrors, trim, etc do?

Think you could mock them up on the fenders for us to see real quick?

Overall they look like they fit great. There is about a 3/16” gap on the back side you can see in the last picture but the top of the light gap looks tight

Seems good enough for me. Got a link for them? Perhaps just the retailer or a link to 06's from them, same thing with the blacked interior?

I just picked a set from eBay that had the silver reflector, that’s all I was worried about. I have no idea what the equivalent 06 light would be.

Oh, lol. Okay. I'll find what I'm looking for.

So I guess it would be am okay plan to return these, snag the fenders if they're still there, and then get a fresh set of heads from eBay when I can?

That’s what I did, new lights, used fenders. I think it’s the best option in the end

Cool. BUT I WANT THE CLEAR REFLECTOR, TOO!!

Do you think it would be possible to mount a second set of projectors {inside the 'turn signal' buckets} pointing more outwards to the sides for a 'widebeam' setup? {{that would activate on a second switch or something. Maybe a floor mount.}}

Also, all I can think of for that tailgate issue would be to get thicker support cords so they don't pop through.

It may be possible but not necessary. The projectors already have a pretty wide angle as it is.

Yeah, but just like 16:9 is widescreen, they now have 21:9 ultra-widescreen. Just wondering if it would be worth it to have a sorta-dedicated side-field projector rigged up for those that like to jump out in front of you in the boonies.

If not, what SHOULD I make that particular light bucket into? A strobe? Color changer? I mean, I'm gonna have the Halos, eyelashes, and the bottom reflector all as switchback DRLs, so....

Demon hemi would be the one to talk to, he does a lot of headlight customizations that look awesome. My personal tastes are clean and simple, so I don’t know much about all the extra add ons
