Haha no problem, glad to help. It actually is supposed to help your trans last longer because there’s less slipping between shifts. When you install it, do a full throttle shift into second and let me know how big your smile is [emoji41]

I've noticed my 1-2 shift is sloppy as hell. Seems like there's an ignition cut, some slip, and maybe some braking involved, too?? Really sucks, IMO, I expect the engine to scream, spit as it shifts, and jolt forward into the next gear like a motherf*****. {{not in a 'you're breaking it' sense, just a 'massive performance' sense.}}

What else can I do to tune this thing and to add performance to the transmission?

Also, can you PM me the best truck/ram performance forum, and then any/all of the best Ram/Truck-in-general forums? Defo looking for performance {including chassis} and sound system stuff, fast replies, accurate, factual based information, etc.

All my exterior and interior mods will likely be straight forward aside from something crazy like shortening the bed+frame+wheelbase, or cab+frame+wheelbase, or bed+cab+frame+wheelbase. {{super crazy, I know, but it's all been done before on other trucks and platforms.}}

For the trans I would get a tuner and either use the canned Performance trans tune or pick up a custom tune from someone of your choice. If your trans is slipping it might possibly be bad, might want to look into that. Best way to keep these transmissions running well is not to full throttle downshift out of overdrive, it will fry it after awhile. Might want to look into a Performance valve body, converter etc...

I don't think it's slipping, it just shifts like a truck. I've only done a dozen or two stomps from 5th gear since I've owned it. I think. It should be fine.

On a strange note, I've been driving it in towing/hauling mode full time recently and have noted improved gas mileage! Is this due to the higher average cruising RPM allowing the motor to experience less load/exert itself less due to being in a more optimal speed range?

Is OD overrated, as opposed to the original thinking when OD was invented? Will I see an even better increase with the 4.56's?

Oh, and just for reference, what gearsets are actually available for these trucks? Mine has 3.92's, and I know 4.88's and 4.10's exist, as do lower in the 3.xx's like 3.35's and 3.55's or something, but are any higher gears offered? Like a 5.xx? Or even something in between a 4.10 and 4.56?

Not quite sure on all that, would be a good topic for a new thread. I’m putting 4.56 in for performance only, and hoping to pick up alittle intown mpg possibly.

Seems to be a success. I still think I’m gonna go with a two toned red up top/original black plastic on the bottom. I’m about to spray some high build primer on and see how it looks

Got 3 coats of high build primer sprayed. I’ll give it a light sand later and see how much more needs touched up with some kind of filler. Shaving and forming plastic is not as easy as it sounds, there are a lot of dimples and scrapes to clean up, no matter how careful I was. e95d32f590899eee4147b7c3887e8414.jpg

What parts/areas of these ribs are you painting red, and what color red? Are they going to be like black+machined face wheels where the sides of the ribs and the base are black, but the tops are red? Or the whole rib red and the base black? Or the base and top of rib red, and the sides of the ribs black? {{IMO, I kinda wanna see the third option.}}

Pretty much what you see primed will be red, also behind the throttle body opening will be red, just needs some more work done. It will be the same dark red the other engine accents I’ve already done 18ca962413ebbcfd5d54daad10631dfc.jpg

Ah. So the whole main part. Cool. I like that color, too. What would your recommend to quickly and effectively clean my engine bay, both, products, and techniques?

(Going to sleep now. Gotta restart the work grind... :/ ))

Ramportin1 and Nick seggested the GUNK foaming spray, posted a some pics a page back. That’s what I used for the intake and it seemed to work well. But when I did my engine everything was torn apart so I just used soap, water and a scrub brush before I painted them

I dropped off the engine block at the machine shop yesterday, gonna take about 3 weeks till I get it back. They are going to do a full cleanup, small overbore, resleeve the one cylinder, and change the cam bearings. I'll hopefully be able to order the stroker kit in a few weeks.

So to keep me busy for the time being, I found a new project! I happened to see a Facebook posting of some guy parting out an 06 ram so I made a spur of the moment deduction to do a 06-08 front end swap haha! He had the front fenders, grill and bumper cap for $120, couldn't pass that up. I directly blame @ramportini for this! After I saw how awesome his new headlights looked I wanted to improve mine. I never liked how the projectors are kinda tucked in and not very visible on the early lights. And I hate the plastic lines running across the lens, it totally ruins the look. So I'll repaint the fenders and cap, and do some custom paint/modifications to the grill. One piece of the grill insert is broken, so I'll have to see about fixing or replacing it. Anyone know if I can get a honeycomb insert for the 06-08 grills? I'm not a huge fan of the slats. As far as the headlights go I want to paint the insides black again but with red accents, and swap in my projectors from my current set. Hopefully all this works out haha
