Hey RF Members and guests, Anthony here, and I'm now the proud owner of a new 2015 Ram 2500 Laramie, Mega Cab, 4x4 with the 6.4L V8 Hemi

This, in a way, is an upgrade from my previous truck, a 2014 Ram 1500 CC, Laramie Longhorn, 3.0L Diesel. You can read my experience with that truck here at "EcoDiesel, A Maiden Voyage." There is a lot of information there about that truck but to make a long story short it was crapping out on me so I sold it and bought a larger truck as I needed the extra payload capacity.

Like the EcoDiesel, I bought this truck from Dave Smith Motors down in Kellogg ID, so I'll be flying down to pick it up on July 6th. Luckily this time I won't be hauling any farm equipment so the trip will be a lot faster and only around 2,500 miles back home to Alaska.

Here is a breakdown of my current accessories list more to come later but for now, I'm having most of these things shipped home and I'll be installing myself however, some will require a professional touch.

With that in mind, Window Tint. The truck came with 35% front and 30% Rear, I would of liked darker to match the blackness of the truck but it's probably better this way. But I am having the Dealership install a tinted eyebrow.

Hammer Head Front / Rear Bumpers

N-Fab N-Durastep Nerf Bar

Bushwaker Pocket Style Fender Flares

Protech Mesh Headache Rack & Diamond Plate Dual Wing Cross Body Tool Box

Retroshops HID kits for Hi & Lo

Rigid D2 Driving & HyperSpot LED lights

Once I receive all of this I'll take the Headache rack, Tool box, Bumpers, fender flares and side steps into my local custom shop and have everything spray lined, while they are doing that I'll have them spray line my truck bed and rocker panel.:naughty:

Afterwords, I'll be wiring up the HID kits, and both Rigid lights which are going to be installed in the 4 square cut outs in the front bumper. My Rear bumper will also have some LED reverse light I'll need to wire up. But once that's all done I just have to through it all together. Later down the road I'll pick up some new Tires and Rims, as well as a lift kit and more moose lights but for now thats all I can offored.

So sit back and hold on while I put this HEMI to work!:burnout:

Nice move. My Ecodiesel experience was the same as yours. I got out early though. All that **** that happened to you happened to me in less than 3k. Got it swapped out with a hemi limited. Couldn't be happier. That little diesel is a POS and to make it worse FCA doesn't really know how to fix it

I actually loved my ecodiesel. I thought it was a great truck but it just had to many electrical issues. The engine and transmission never gave me any grief. But your completely right. The Dealers don't know what to do when they break. I've had 2 Chrysler certified master diesel mechanics tell me the same thing. When it's broke they try and get help from Chrysler and they basically tell them to figure it out or throw parts at it. Joy... Lucky that fight is over and I'm hoping to have better luck with my new girl.

It seems as all my accessories have arrived and I fly down this Sunday to pick up my new truck, in about two weeks I can start installing stuff XD!

I'm flying down for Fairbanks Alaska to Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg ID and will be driving back, approximately 2,400 miles

Haha right! I had thought about naming the thread that but decided against it because it's not one of the first 6.4L hemis like it was for the ecodiesel. And I'm also not doing a whole bunch of town right of the bat either.

That's a whole lot of truck, I'm sure driving that is a much different experience from the EcoDiesel. I look forward to seeing the mileage.

on the move..

After a long night, and an even longer day at the Dealership that should of been a sign an go I finally pick my truck up (yesterday) and drove about 200 miles. EVIC is saying I'm getting an average of just over 16mpg. I made it to Republic last night and I'll be here for a few days. I'm hoping to get my sidesteps installed maybe my front bumper.

From left to right in the bed of. Me truck it's - rear bumper, front bumper, on top of it is the headache rack and the really long box on the right is the step bars.

*EDIT
Sorry for the lack of information when I originally posted this, I was 2,300 miles from home and had no real tools to work with or the time to sit down and give a little writeup about it. But luckily my two friends where willing to help. I didn't get to take quite as many pictures as I'd of liked but over all it was fairly straight forward.

Basically we unplugged all the sensors, lights, and the 7-pin trailer adapter. removed 4? bolts and 2 nuts and off it went.

Installing the Hammerhead bumper was a little more challenging as we had to fit rubber grommets in the cutouts for the park sensors then install the sensors themselves. After that we put in the reverse lights but held off on wiring them. Added the new LED license plate lights. Bolted on the bumper adapters and then the bumper itself. After about a half hour of trying to align the bumper we gave up and just tightened it down as I was going to take it off shortly after I got back home to Alaska to have it sprayed.

AEM Dry Engine Air Filter and Cabin Air Filter, Installed on 7/12

First day after I got back home to Alaska all those packages in my garage where just screaming my name, so like any sane man with some free time on his hands I pulled my new truck into the garage and started taring it apart. Knowing I only truly had a few hours of time I decided to go ahead and install two of my easier mods. A 'performance' engine air filter, and a Cabin Filter.

'AEM 28-20247 DryFlow Air Filter'
I was goofing off one day waiting for my new truck and though, hey why not get some 'performance' parts? Wanting to be cheap I thought about getting a Cold Air Intake but couldn't settle on anything I liked. I stumbled across this Airfilter and liked the reviews so I thought why not? Best part is its an oil-less filter, no more worrying about gumming up O2 Sensors!

Extremely easy install/replacement. Open the lid, pull out old, insert new, close lid. But I'm sure y'all knew that and if you didn't... You should probably go check your air filter as they are supposed to be replaced / cleaned regularly...

It even came with a sticker to remind you that it is an oil-less filter.

Next came my Cabin Air Filter
'Evaporator Heater-Door' (Filter Cover)
Cabin Air Filter
Original instructions are from the 'Cabin Air Filter Mod' Thread

Last year on my 2014 Ram Ecodiesel I performed this modification and concidered it a must have. Having already installed it once I figured the second time around would be easier. I was right and yet... wrong...

First I Removed the Glove Box
20150712_132334.jpg
20150712_132419.jpg

Then I located the the area where the air filter would go if it came equipped from the factory
20150712_132958.jpg

Carefully I used a razor blade utility knife to cut out the port. If you are doing this make sure to cut on the inside of the lines

20150712_135324.jpg

At this point you just have to insert the air filter, however or my vehicle this year there where sharp plastic protrusion on the inside that the filter kept getting stuck on. I didn't figure this out for several frustrating minuets until i reached in there a sliced my finger after about damn near destroying the filter trying to shove it in/rip it out. Once I had isolated the problem I used my knife to cut out a template the size of the filter + about 1" in length. I incerted this and held it up against the sharp plastic pieces and slide the filter in underneath the cardboard. This worked like a charm, then you just have to pull out the cardboard. (I was frustrated and didn't take pictures of this whole process)
20150712_141446.jpg

Finally all you have to do is pop the cover onto and reinstall your glove box and your done!

NOTE: the covers don't always 'snap' in place, sometimes you have to hold it in up while you push the tabs until they click.

Great write up. Thanks man.
I did both of these miss within the first two weeks of having my truck.
