Recently left North Dakota and decided to go through the black hills and see Mount Rushmore. Snapped a couple cool pics and thought I'd share them.

Very Cool! I desire to see the "Great Plains" States and get up in that neck of the woods, all while trying to get back and re-visit my old family farm and small town down near Cabot, AR where I had spent many a summer visiting growing up.

Thanks for giving us a peek. And welcome! Great to see a new-ish member stepping up and posting some fine pics to share.

I sure would have hated to be the poor guy (or guys) tasked with boring out that tunnel! Looks like some seriously hard rock! Where does that go?

Also, what is that highly maintained log structure curving through the background? Is that a road bridge, log flume or what the heck??? Sure is some nicely worked timber in it's construction.

Thanks man. When you come down from Mount Rushmore you can take a road called iron mountain rd. it leads down toward Custer state park where the Buffalo are. It is a series of log bridges that are paved over the top. Like the one in the pic. I forget how long the road is but I want to say there are 5 of those bridges like that and 3 of the tunnels.

The tunnels are the cool part. The way we went through them we would have never noticed but we stopped at the other end to take pictures of them and looking back through all 3 of them you will notice the tunnels frame Mount Rushmore.

There are a lot of places to pull off on the road and see the landscape. Once you reach the top of the mountain you can walk out on a ledge and see everything.

It's a very beautiful place to see.

Great pics of a great (and way overlooked) area of our country.
