Not mine at all (actually opposite end of the state from me), but figured someone may like this. Factory sport hood, pretty inexpensively relatively speaking.

Be nice to see how bad the damage really is.$700 is cheap if it doesn't come with a gallon of bondo in the dents.

Damn this is a great cheap way to figure out how to make a functional hood for heat extraction without the cost of tearing up a new one or mine.

I may have to see what it would cost to ship it to cali... Only problem is my alum welding skills arent as good as ferrous metal fab... still tempting

Edit, are there any members near this that can look into it and shipping it??? Since I'm not a huge trusting person of craigslist adds

Hail is really easy to repair. I'm a bodyman by trade and I have done lots of it. Sand the hood down with 120/180G then make sure the dents have been sanded as well. Starting with a light glazing putty spread a thin layer over the hail dents, wait for it to "flip" then block sand it with 120g. Take your time as it will be well worth it in the end. After all the "dents" have been sanded out, check for pinholes in the filler then give them another very light layer. Sand them out then put a few heavy coats of primer on the whole hood. Let cure or if you have access to a heat lamp put the hood underneath it 'till completely dry. For safety measures spray a coat of black paint over the entire hood (for guide coat purposes) that way you'll be able to tell if all the hail was caught or not. No big deal if a few were missed just go and fill them again with the glazing putty and repeat the priming sequence over. Block sand hood with 180g and work up to at least 320g before painting. I find it's always best to wet sand with 600g wetsand paper. Always use a block for this as it will stay true to the flatness of the hood. Wash off, wipe with a degreaser of some sort then paint it. That simple. If I was closer I would've had it already.......... Good luck.

Then why did 3 place write replace for my acorn damage hood ?
Yes acorns but it looked like small hail damage. The 4th estimate the appraiser told me they'd replace it not repair it, but when I looked at estimate he had wrote repair. All the places said that nobody would be satisfied with repairing an aluminum hood. My insurance also wanted it replace.
My hood wasn't terribly bad and I have it, in the box my new one came in. Sucks how thin the bodies are on newer vehicles.

i found a hood on craigslist that was hail damaged... 60 or so dents. Paintless dent repair.
Had a friend that did it for $175... was around $400 worth of paintless dent repair. Hood was $150 so had under $400 in hood. No paint involved it was already Black...

Was it steel or aluminum? Aluminum can get pricey to repair.

If it was a Sport hood it was aluminum no question. Even if it was full of hail dents it is still relatively easy to repair. Just patience and time. The end product is the goal especially for the DIY'er.

I saw a Ram truck in upper NY a few years ago that looked like someone took a 2 lb. ball peen hammer to it.The hail even dented the top of the box rails. That's why I said I would want to see the damage first.
