What are you worried about? You should be more worried about the draconian rules these colleges are putting out than an active shooter situation. Yesterday at UT should be a good example of "rights supression", but I digress...

We got off topic, but Jay, if you can pick a place to in that area I'll be there. Depending on the weekend it falls on I might bring my son with me.

You guys are spot on though.

I always had a gun in my car or motorcycle when I went to college. There were a handful of times where something would happen and I'd put my pistol in my backpack and take it to class with me.

But yea. Let's pick a place and then we can look at times.

You'all wanna do a breakfast thing or a lunch thing or neither one or both? I'd like to call around to a couple of places and see about seating for 15-20 people and make sure they have a big enough parking lot for all of us without having to park close too someone that----might not be as careful as we are---LOL. Maybe we should check in with Matt and see what his race schedule looks like so he might have a chance to come if he wants. I assume you want to get together before Thanksgiving????? is that correct?????? Do you guys think you can get a few more people from the Houston area??????

I personally would prefer to do something that last's a bit longer than Elgin did. I know everybody had plans crammed together that day, but if everyone could do a full day type deal that would be cool. I'll some Houstonian's up on here and see if I can get em' in the fryer with us... we can find parking where we can all be in a strait line side by side and derekp and I will park on the outside since we will probably have the biggest trucks and will protect the heard. Before thanksgiving would be cool, but it's whatever everyone can schedule in. I'm putting my truck in the shop to get the rear end rebuilt tomorrow so I'll be without a truck for a week or more.

Guns what are those?

Name the place and time and I'll be there. Depending on which weekend it will need to be kid friendly. I like the park idea. Or since there are a lot of racers in Houston, maybe a GTG at the track.

What's better than Texas & Guns? How about a Sig Sauer Tx Edition 1911

I like the idea of a BBQ somewhere between austin and houston....

Giddings is between austin and houston on 290. (where I live) just saying...

Small town with a park parking should not be a problem I can go tape off a section early morning for parking.
Playscape for the kids Pavillion for grills, ducks for the kids to feed.

If we wanted to get some money together andhave it catered I can contact the local meat market and see how much to feed xx amount of people.

Badass lookin' gun, especially with the TX state on top. My personal opinion is that 1911's are over rated, but they are a proven weapon.

I'm fine with the range, but we should all agree to a date first. I may have my son and I can't take him in there because he's to little.

I hate to bring it up but some people who may want to attend mught not be able to go to a range due to legal issues, maybe we should be sure that everybody who wants to attend is legally able to.

It's not an issue for me but just like it said it might be for some people.

Lets do these as two separate events. The BBQ in a park sounds good to me also. Does anyone have a pit or cooker? Everyone bring their own stuff to cook or do we want to chip in on some hamburgers and hot dogs and just pay someone to pick the stuff up. Does everyone want to bring their own drinks and maybe a bag of chips, some paper plates, maybe some beans----maybe we need to involve some of the wives and girlfriends????? We can also pick a couple of dates and then see which one works best for the most people. Giddings sounds ok with me and we got someone that lives there so he can find us a place to park and a place to cook, however it is a little further from Houston on 290---Is that a big problem for you guys???? How about November 7 or 14th. Both are Saturdays--any other suggestions ????

I'll take pictures of the area tomorrow and post them,

I was informed by my wife that the park I have in mind while is 100% open to the public it is privately owned therefore I am unable to reserve the pavillion. That being said we would probably have to kick this off a little earlier 10, 11 or so. I have a grill I can bring but it's not going to yield much food as its your typical single family porch grill.
