Ok guys I'm new here and have recently acquired a 1998 dodge 1500 for an absolute steal at 400 bucks. The truck currently runs and drives with no issues and only 90k miles on it, now I'm not a real fan of the v6 yes it gets me from a to b but I want some serious power in this thing and would like to drop in a 5.9 v8 and just sell the v6 in it currently. I was just curious if any body on here has done this and what kind of modifications I would need to do to make this possible. Thanks for any help provided

You need the basic stuff for an engine swap. PCM and wiring harness radiator hoses v8 fan shroud only thing I'm unsure of is the exhaust. Not sure if the v6 y-pipe is the same

You will also need a torque converter for a 5.9 since it uses 1 of set pad

Didn't the V6 Rams have the 42R transmission as opposed to the V8's 46R transmission? I wouldn't trust a V6 transmission to handle the torque of a V8...
Yes I suppose your right. Missed that one...lol
