So I can find how-to's for all of the 4x4's with the front strut assembly, but nothing for the 4x2 crowd.

Anything I need to watch out for when I try to replace the crap OEM shocks in the front with Bilstein 4600's?

And mods - not sure where this should go - it's not lowered or lifted - just an upgrade. Move as you see fit, please.

I am pretty sure this is the same process as for the 4x4 trucks. Only difference I know of are different hubs. The struts should be the same...

Nope - not struts. The shock IS inside the spring, but they are not one unit (a strut). The shocks look to come out completely independent of the spring (which is why I'm asking in the first place).

I recently installed all new shocks front and rear along with air lift bags with wireless compressor if I can help anyone else. My Ram is two wheeled drive.

You should just be able to unbolt the top, unbolt the bottom and drop it right through the control arm. Super quick and easy.

Thank you very much for posting that video. I have been going crazy trying to figure this out. I looked at the unit and it looked that simple, but friends putting in thier 2 cents messed up my removal. I will try to do replace with new Bilstein 4600 this weekend, ALONE!

It's such a piece of cake, really.
Helps to raise/ jack up the front of the truck a little bit to get the shocks out of the LCA.

Cliff Klavin fact, 2wd shares same front end parts as 4X4 with airbags, same upper, lower control arms, spindle and hubs. If you look at your bearings they will have slotted holes for the CV shaft even. Non-airbag 4X4 use same bearing and upper control arm, different spindel and LCA.

The front shocks are very easy to replace, it's just like any older car, the rear is a PITA you either have the remove the inner wheel well or use a hole saw and bore a hole in the well well to get access to the top shock bolt this is what I did was very easy to do this way, you will also have to make a special wrench, I used an old 13/16 open end I cut down to 2 3/8" long, with the hole and the shorty wrench it took 15 minutes to do the job.
Ram installs the shocks on the frame before they put the box on, some overpaid engineers obviously overlooked this problem.

So, everything that he takes off in the video doesn't need to be taken off, right? I can just unbolt the shocks and slip them through?
