I purchased my 2015 Ram 1500 Big Horn in May 2015 and wanted to share my thoughts. I have garnered some excellent advice from this forum and wanted to give back a bit.
Overall, very happy with my Ram. No major issues have come up, ride is phenomenal... very comfortable.
Issues I have experienced:
1. Clunking during stopping and starting for the first 12 months. I went in and had a computer flash and the problem is all but gone.
2. Paint job leaves a lot to be desired. I'd complain more but my fault for not walking down the truck and inspecting. Silly me, I thought I brand new vehicle would be perfect. After stressing about this for some time, I finally convinced myself that after two years, who really cares? I'd have enough paint issues from picking up debris on the road
3. MPG... in Atlanta traffic, I average about 16-17 mpg. This is mostly stop and go traffic on the interstates. On the open road, I have seen 22-24 mpg.
4. 3rd brake light leak... yes, I got this two weeks ago. Fixed it with some RTV. Took about 30 minutes.
5. Headlights very dim. I have the standard halogen ( not projector or HID ). 55W bulbs were very weak. Replaced these about 4 months ago with the 65W bulbs and I am happy again. Have not experienced any issues from doing this. Now, for those of you who like to complain about mods to headlights, I aimed my lights a bit lower than normal and have not been flashed once.
For those of you considering a RAM, just go buy it. When I was shopping, I had one honest Chevy dealer tell me that I should buy the truck I wanted. They are all good. Manufacturers have too much riding on these vehicles to produce an unreliable vehicle. Buy the vehicle that best suits your needs.
Now, for my Tundra rant. I get a kick out of Tundra owners telling everyone how reliable their Tundra is. I have nothing against Toyota products and I often praise them because if it were not for Toyota raising the bar, we'd still be driving 70's and 80's POS. As for the Tundra, AIP issues, cam tower leaks, water pumps. Major expenses. No one considers the Tundra unreliable because the Toyota dealers step up and make the repairs. Chrysler, are you listening? My experience with Chrysler trying to get anything done has been painful. This is why I simply fixed the 3rd brake light myself.
