Bought an 2011 ram 1500 4x4 last year used with 68,***. Before purchasing I noticed the AC was blowing warm with a little hint of refrigerant smell. The dealership I purchased the truck from agreed to fix the AC upon purchase. They said it was the compressor. Fast foward 1 year later I have the refrigerant smell again. The drivers side vent blows warm, while the passenger side blows cold-semi cold. The AC compressor comes on when AC is turned on but looks like it spins slower than usual. I remember within the last 2 months, upon starating the truck there was a sound that sounded like a bad pulley that lasted only a couple seconds. Could that have been the AC pulley? Maybe there's a leak somewhere. Hopefully not behind the dash. EVentura while driving with out the AC and air blowing, there is a little smell of refrigerant. Anyone here with this experience?

If your smelling refrigant than you got one of 2 things a hole in the condenser or a bad O ring letting the gases escape take it back demand a dye test and a vacuum check

Hi 808ram1500,

It would be beneficial to have the dealership that performed the compressor replacement re-check everything for you. Please let us know if you need any assistance making an appointment or working with the dealership.

If I take it back, I will be charged. I purchased this truck used, as is with no warrange what so ever.
If I'm on my own, I can live with that. Just looking for input and what to expect on this fix.

I'll probably take it somewhere besides the dealership and pay to diagnose. When I bought the truck (used) it came as is with no warranty what so ever. I really hope it's an o-ring. Lol.

I recently charged the system with one of those over the counter refrigerant/sealant type of cans. So far the ac gets cold, the smell is less noticeable. We'll see how long it holds up. I'll eventually take it in, hopefully I have the funds than.
